Back in December 2011, I received a six month subscription to what was, at the time, a brand new beauty sample delivery service called Birchbox (here's the post about my very first Birchbox). I was totally enamored. I even received a Gossip Girl-themed box one month (see that here).

Official "awards season" is January through March (Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild, Grammys, Oscars), but every September we get to enjoy one outlier, the Emmys.
The timing of the Emmy Awards is kind of perfect because it aligns with the return of all our favorite fall shows. While we can't really remember the specific performances or episodes being referenced in the clips for the nominees, it does make us excited to dive back into a new season.
As I mentioned on Wednesday, I spent last weekend in New York City celebrating Rosh Hashana (Jewish New Year) with my family. I arrived on Friday evening and then spent Saturday visiting with old friends and toasting to my brother-in-law's graduation from his masters program (why they had the ceremony in September, I will never know).
I come from a long line of bargain hunters. My grandmother was known for reusing and repurposing regular household items and furniture into creative new inventions. She was also a serious coupon clipper. She passed that spirit onto my father, who is the ultimate bargain shopper. He lives for a great deal. That genetic predisposition is clearly the reason I have always loved 2nd Time Around.
I have been saying this all year, but publishing my 2015 new year's resolutions here on the blog has really held me super accountable and made me exponentially more excited to share my progress.
Today I am happy to report that I have crossed another resolution off the list! Number nine - donate my hair.

Last weekend I flew to Florida to meet my new, five week old baby cousin. While I was ecstatic to snuggle with him, August in Florida isn't exactly the ideal summer climate. In fact, on Saturday, the sky turned completely gray and it started to rain.
So what do you do on a lazy, gray Saturday? Watch a movie, of course.
