Sunday night I had planned to meet one of my favorite girls in Harvard Square for an early dinner. I was craving the taco salad from Border Cafe, but when I suggested that she said, "Hmmm, I just showered this afternoon and I'm afraid if we go there, I'll stink of burrito." Fair point.
I suggested Russell House Tavern, but when she realized I had already been there and already blogged it, she said, "No! I want to go somewhere you've never been so you take pictures." Well then!
This past weekend I stayed at the Ames Hotel, largely because I already had a reservation for food & beverage manager Dana Searle's brunch at the Woodward on Sunday. Each month Dana hosts a brunch complete with specialty cocktails and a DJ.
This Sunday's brunch was spectacular. We arrived promptly at 1:00pm and were taken to a comfortable booth in the front corner of the restaurant.
Back in March 2010 I took my first trip to Rialto in Harvard Square as part of Restaurant Week. On that trip I fell in love with the restaurant, its food and drink and owner/chef Jody Adams. For the last several weeks I have been reading about chef Jody's newest venture, Trade.
Two weeks ago I was driving on Western Ave. in Allston when I noticed something new had popped up! I squinted and saw the sign read, Stone Hearth Pizza. I knew I had read about about Stone Hearth somewhere and after a little poking around online I found the original source, a friend's blog: Free Food Boston!
It's my final Los Angeles blog post! I don't want the reminiscing to end! Wah.
After our culinary trip to Italy at Fritto Misto in Santa Monica, we walked a few blocks over to the 3rd Street Promenade to a wine bar called
Saturday night of our Los Angeles trip the conference was over and we had the night to ourselves. Before we left Boston I arranged for us to spend Saturday night with a friend who grew up in Brentwood. We met at her house and then in true L.A. style, she drove us to dinner in her Prius.
We arrived at an Italian place called Fritto Misto. This place was super popular!
The Los Angeles adventures continue! Are you enjoying having your own, private, L.A. tour guide? I hope so.
Our second night in Los Angeles we decided to have dinner at a place we passed the day before on our walk back from Bottega Louie called Casa. We noticed Casa right away because it had what I'd describe as giant eggs, or maybe spaceships, right outside on its patio. See for yourself:
After checking into my hotel in Los Angeles (and traveling for over nine hours) the first order of business was lunch. We asked our hotel concierge, Amy, for her best lunch recommendation. She whipped out a map of downtown L.A., her highlighters and said, "Girls, I know just the place for you, it's called Bottega Louie. I am not even going to give you an alternate choice, because I know you are going to love it."
Most people, especially those not from Boston, know Charlestown from the Ben Affleck movie "The Town." For me, Charlestown is a place home to ma
