This morning I arrived in Miami for a seven day vacation. My parents were kind enough to come fetch me at the airport and we headed straight out to lunch at one of our favorite places near my parents' condo called Piola.
I've eaten at Piola four or five times and I always request to sit on the patio.
Piola has an awesome menu of salads, pizza and pasta dishes.
I love that the napkins say "famous for pizza" in Italian on them.
While we looked over the menu our waiter brought us a basket of bread and bottles of oil and vinegar.
For lunch I ordered the D'Annunzio salad which is mixed greens, tomatoes, corn, hearts of palm, mozzarella cheese, hard boiled egg and avocado with a dijon mustard dressing. I love this salad! It is topped with so many goodies and the dressing is tangy and perfect.
My dad ordered a pizza with ham, artichoke hearts and mushrooms. I snuck a piece that didn't have any ham on it and it was super delicious!
My mom ordered the pizza light, which is a whole wheat crust, tomato sauce, arugula, cherry tomatoes and Greek olives (no cheese).
Her pizza was a lunch special, so she also got a side salad. The salad was underwhelming, so I gave her some goodies from mine.
Though my parents made valiant attempts to finish both of their pizzas, they each had half left. Our waiter happily offered to box them up together so we could take them home.
Though I always eat outside at Piola, I walked through the inside to use the ladies room and it's actually really funky in there. I like the bright colored paintings on the walls and the fun light fixtures above the bar. This would be a great place to host a birthday dinner.
