My third night in New York City I left work in Times Square and walked up to 58th Street to meet a friend for a drink. We agreed to meet on the corner of 58th Street and 8th Avenue, but had no idea where we wanted to go.
We walked east on 58th Street and found a place called Red58.
While I was in New York City the last two weeks I had the opportunity to try several news bars, restaurants and bakeries. My first night in town I got in so late I just ordered delivery to my hotel room from my favorite pizza place (Vezzo, you can read my review here) but by night two I was ready for a dining adventure!
The story of tonight's dinner exemplifies why I love the internet.
A few months ago it seemed the whole Boston universe was a buzz with the news that Donnie and Marky Mark's brother, Paul, was going to open his second restaurant in the Hingham Shipyard, a burger joint called Wahlburgers.
I totally bought into the hype and could not wait to make the trip down 93 to experience Wahlburgers for myself. One week went by, then two, then three and eventually I found myself months out from the opening without an adventure planned.
A week or so ago I made a plan to meet a high school friend for dinner. She lives in Inman Square and doesn't have a car, so she suggested a place walking distance from her apartment called Lord Hobo. I had been there once before, but I was several drinks in and chasing a boy, so my memory of the experience is a bit . . . fuzzy.
I feel like a broken record, but - I love my job. Working in the financial district puts me steps away from some of the best restaurants, bars and shops in the city or just a few T stops away. Whenever a new place opens, it's always super easy for me to head over to check it out, like today!
This afternoon I took a lunch break with a coworker and she suggested we try a new place she'd been hearing about called Zo.
Zo is located in the alley between State Street and Faneuil Hall, right next to Clarke's.
Last night I went with two of my best girls to Masa in the South End.
Well, it's my last day in Miami. I am devastated to leave and not just because the weather is beautiful (which it is). This week I have been able to spend so much quality time with my family, explore new neighborhoods, enjoy live music, eat like a queen, and most importantly - relax. Before I fly back to reality this afternoon, I wanted to share one last review with you.
Last night I went with my parents to the Bakehouse Art Complex. The BAC was hosting an opening party for a new exhibit. We were able to wander through the expansive gallery and pop into several artists' studios. Many of the artists were holding court in their studios, greeting guests and answering questions about their work.
After an incredible Thanksgiving feast on Thursday evening and a family viewing of "A Very GaGa Thanksgiving" I woke up Friday morning ready to take complete advantage of the Black Friday savings.
My second day in Miami started with a hair cut at La Bella Salon in Coral Gables. I've been getting my hair done there for six years and my stylist, Stacy, is a magician!
Post-glam squad I sat outside with my iced passion tea at Starbucks (love sitting outside in November!) and then wandered into Barnes & Noble in search of a 2012 datebook. I found an absolutely gorgeous one and I feel more organized already!
