Dining Out: Zo

I feel like a broken record, but - I love my job. Working in the financial district puts me steps away from some of the best restaurants, bars and shops in the city or just a few T stops away. Whenever a new place opens, it's always super easy for me to head over to check it out, like today!

This afternoon I took a lunch break with a coworker and she suggested we try a new place she'd been hearing about called Zo.

Zo is located in the alley between State Street and Faneuil Hall, right next to Clarke's.

As we were walking in I commented on how much I liked their sleek, black and silver logo. Very sophisticated!

When we walked in we noticed their wall of tasteful holiday decor.

The line for lunch was all the way to the door! We stood at the end I couldn't help laugh when I saw the menus. Need to think about what to get? The statue understands.

The line moved very quickly and as we got closer I saw the two huge columns of meat rotating against the back wall.

I also noticed the slices of baklava that were available to-go.

When it was my turn I decided to ordered the veggie pita. My coworker ordered the classic gyro.

When we got to the end of the line to pay I couldn't help but notice their was no cash register. The cashier was doing all of their transactions on an iPad! Oh how I love modern technology!

We wanted to grab a few extra napkins on our way out and again, I couldn't help but chuckle that they were resting on a Greek column.

When we got back to our desks we couldn't wait to dig in! My coworker devoured her gyro and said, "The meat was seasoned perfectly and cut into small pieces, sometimes gyros have very long strips of meat, which I’m not a fan of. It was the perfect blend of meat, veggies and tzatziki sauce in a nice warm pita! A definite staple to my list of lunch spots downtown."

I was very happy with the veggie pita. It was stuffed to the point of exploding with feta cheese, mixed greens, juicy tomatoes, roasted red peppers and a spritz of balsamic. The juicy tomatoes really kept the sandwich from needing a sauce like tzatziki or hummus.

If you're looking for a new lunch place downtown, I'd highly recommend Zo. The service was excellent, the place feels elegant and the food is authentic, Greek, feta covered deliciousness!
