Drink: Red58

My third night in New York City I left work in Times Square and walked up to 58th Street to meet a friend for a drink. We agreed to meet on the corner of 58th Street and 8th Avenue, but had no idea where we wanted to go.

We walked east on 58th Street and found a place called Red58.

When we opened the door to the bar I loved it immediately. The decor is all red and black and it actually reminded me of Lolita in Back Bay.

In the front of the bar there are stools for perching beneath a beautiful light fixture. It's so cozy!

The bar is in the front of the restaurant, against an exposed brick wall.

We climbed into a high top booth. The booths have a red and black snake skin pattern and have red and black throw pillows for really settling in and getting comfy.

The cocktail menu was propped up on the table and our waiter also brought us a food menu (we had no plans to eat, but were curious what the offerings were for future reference).

I decided on the Citroen lemonade crush which is basically spiked lemonade. It was perfect! It was an excellent ratio of tart to sweet.

My friend ordered a drink called the Irish Buck, a gin drink. Notice the red straws and red napkins!

We both really enjoyed our cocktails and agreed that the decor and atmosphere was awesome. I think it would be fun to host a happy hour there.

If you live or work between Times Square and Central Park, make time to have a drink and get cozy at Red58.
