Explore: Brazilian Cocktail Class At Tavern Road

Today marks a very important day for soccer (or should I say football?) fans around the world, it's opening day of the World Cup.

Like the Olympics, the World Cup only comes around once every four years. Though professional soccer is definitely not one of the top five sports in the United States, across the globe it's celebrated in countries spanning multiple continents.

This year's World Cup is taking place in Brazil. To celebrate that locale, the bartenders of Tavern Road mixed up a cocktail class celebrating the best of Brazil.

Dining Out: Michael's Harborside

Growing up, I spent a lot of time on the North Shore. My aunt and uncle lived in Topsfield and our good family friends lived in Gloucester. We spent many a weekend exploring the cute shops, local restaurants and of course, the beach.

One of our favorite places for family dinner was always Michael's Harborside in Newburyport.

Explore: Ben & Jerry's Factory Tour

When my friends I decided to plan our weekend getaway to Vermont there was one place we knew we would visit no matter what . . .

 . . . The Ben & Jerry's Factory.

Those who know me well know that ice cream is pretty much my primary food group. Whenever people ask what I'd want my last meal to be (this seems to happen a lot at work), my answer is always, "A hot fudge sundae."

Dining Out: Dutch Pancake Cafe

This week I'm taking you all with me as I relive my weekend in Stowe, VT. As my friends and I were planning this getaway, we vetted many restaurants that were recommended by family members, friends and coworkers.

Dining Out: Crop Bistro & Brewery

Earlier this month I took a weekend escape with three friends to Stowe, VT. I hadn't been to Stowe since a family trip in elementary school. When we decided to book this, I called my parents to help me jog my memory about my last time in the Green Mountains. My mother said, "You don't remember? Daddy and I do. We tried to take you and your sister skiing. We got you all dressed, it was about -20 degrees outside and you both just cried the whole time. You spent the rest of the weekend swimming in the indoor pool." Hmmm. Well, that didn't feel very promising.

Dining Out: Cook

Once a month I have dinner with a group of friends and each time we go out, we try to choose a restaurant none of us have been to yet. We used to meet on Fridays and so we called our gatherings Foodie Friday, but now that we're getting old, we meet on Sundays at 5:00pm. True story.

For our most recent dinner, we went to Cook in Newtonville. This location is steps from my childhood home and over my lifetime it has been several different spots, most recently, Lam's, a Vietnamese place.

Now Open: Great American Shake Sale

If you've been reading this blog for a while, you know I have a major crush on Shake Shack. Not only do they have one of the best veggie options around for a burger joint, but they love cheese fries and share my obsession with frozen confections.

Dining Out: Fajitas & Ritas

If you spent any part of your life from age 18 - 25 in Boston, then you are quite familiar with Fajitas & Ritas.  The Texas BBQ joint, self-described as "unabashedly fun," offers food and drinks in a rowdy atmosphere at rock bottom prices. It's basically a college kid's dream.

The restaurant is on West Street between the Common and Downtown Crossing.

Coming Soon: Cinco De Mayo At Rosa Mexicano

It's no secret, I love Rosa Mexicano.

Starting this Thursday, May 1st, the restaurant will kick off a celebration appropriately called, the Five Days of Cinco de Mayo at Rosa Mexicano.

From May 1st - May 5th the restaurant will offer a $35 prix fixe menu, a DJ and a mariachi band.

During this five day celebration, you can enjoy Rosa classics like pitchers of margaritas, table side guacamole (the undisputed best guac on the planet), nachos, tacos, flautas, tortilla soup, enchiladas, churros and more.
