Sugar Rush: Phillips Candy House

If you've been reading Pop.Bop.Shop. for a while, then you already know I have a major sweet tooth. Lucky for me, this weekend marks the start of the Jewish holiday of Passover, an occasion that allows for unapologetic consumption of coconut macaroons and chocolate covered matzah.

This year, the start of Passover is the same weekend as Easter, another celebration sprinkled with treats. I know many of you are looking forward to Easter with your families and no matter how old you are, you're also probably hoping for an Easter basket.

This week I got the chance to sample some of the best spring time holiday treats from Boston's oldest chocolatier, Phillips Candy House. The goodies arrived beautifully wrapped in floral paper.

The signature Phillips box is cherry red with silver embossing. Very swanky!

Inside the box were three colors of Phillips' Peeps in a puddle. This confection dips marshmallow Peeps in either milk chocolate, dark chocolate or white chocolate.

The signature yellow Peep was dipped in milk chocolate.

The purple Peeps took a swim in the dark chocolate.

If you're not a Peeps person, Phillips also offers a wide variety of chocolate eggs. If you're a Cadbury egg fan, just wait until you see the Phillips rocky road fudge egg!

The rocky road fudge egg comes adorably packaged on a nest of pink ribbon.

Look at that milk chocolate and walnut goodness!

With decadent treats like these, it's no wonder Phillips Candy House has been satisfying Boston's sweet tooth for 90 years.

If you're still assembling candy baskets for this weekend, take a look at the Phillips website and pick out some extra special surprises for your family and friends.

Tell me, what's your favorite Passover or Easter treat?
