Shop Your Fashion Magazines

When you need a new outfit, where do you go? The mall?

While shopping in stores allows you to touch fabrics (a must for me), try things on, or ask a store clerk for recommendations, often times you miss things or overlook them because stores can be so cluttered and overwhelming.

Where to turn for new ideas? The pages of your fashion magazines.

Now I know what you are thinking, "I can't afford any of those things!" I usually feel that way too. But with a good eye and a great sense of style, you can find pieces that won't break the bank.

For example, in the December issue, Glamour magazine featured adorable bow, glitter bobby pins that are available at Target. $6 for a set of three. Super cute!

In January's InStyle magazine the beauty editor put on her "must" list a Marc Jacobs ring that comes filled with a solid perfume. A fun, gorgeous cocktail ring that is multi-purpose and will only cost you $42.

Harper's Bazaar showcased a sophisticated, black satin coat from White House Black Market that has a ruffled collar that comes down into a beautiful ruffle pattern over the zipper. This stunning evening coat is $228. A small price to pay for looking chic all winter.

My girls over at Lucky magazine have a bit more expensive taste, but I was immediately drawn to this white, silk chiffon BCBG dress that was featured in a spread inspired by Baz Luhrman's movie Romeo + Juliet. The dress comes in two subtly different necklines and back designs. Either dress can be yours for $328.

The next time you're in a fashion rut, don't rush to the mall in a panic. Relax with a stack of mags, and rip out your next wardrobe pieces one by one.
