Father's Day is just two weeks away, so if you haven't picked out something special for Dad, it's time to get cracking!
I am very lucky that my dad is super easy to shop for. He has a wide range of interests, including: cooking, grilling, fishing, bike riding, basketball, cigars, rum and jazz music. Each year I actually spend more time trying to find a card that will make him laugh out loud than I do on the hunt for a gift.
If you're struggling to find a Dad-worthy present, I'm here to help.
For the dad who loves to grill (just like my dad): Most grilling gurus already have the essential tools, but do they have a quesadilla basket made just for grilling? When I found this on the Crate & Barrel website I squealed with excitement. This is taking backyard grilling to the next level and it's only $19.95.
Keeping with the grilling theme, this cutting board made me chuckle. A fun play on words for any dad who is also a fan of "The Godfather." You can snag this on Etsy for $24.95.
For the whiskey drinking dad: I know a lot of the dads out there appreciate a good whiskey. Up his drinking experience with these hand blown whiskey glasses. These are a bit pricey, they are $28.00 per glass, but on the plus side, they are completely dishwasher safe.
Another option for the whiskey enthusiast, nautical themed whiskey stones. How perfect are these for summer? This set of three which includes a whale, a wheel and an anchor is just $14.95 on Uncommon Goods.
For the dad with a sweet tooth: If your dad likes to start the morning with a sugar rush, Kane's Donuts in Boston and Saugus has created a special donut just for Father's Day. Kane's has teamed up with Rhode Island distillery Sons of Liberty Spirits Co. to use their Battle Cry Whiskey to create a whiskey glazed donut. They boil down the whiskey to cook out most of the alcohol and then blend it with sugar, local honey and butter to create a decadent glaze. Knowing not everyone would be able to make it to Kane's the week of Father's Day, they offering this special flavor for the entire month of June.
If your dad is more of a candy guy, local Somerville chocolate maker EHChocolatier has an entire Father's Day collection. They have five different options but I would recommend two in particular. First, the ballpark chocolates which combine dark chocolate, caramel, peanuts, Newburyport Green Head IPA and Jack's Abby Smoke and Dagger Black Lager. Yes, people. Chocolate and beer. A five piece box is $15.95.
The Whiskey & Whisky bon bon box includes chocolates made with Knob Creek Bourbon Smoked Maple, Balvenie DoubleWood Scotch and Damnation Alley Whiskey. Need I say more? A box with nine pieces goes for $21.95.
For the dad (or grandfather) who won't stop taking pictures: We all have that dad / grandfather / uncle in the family who is always taking pictures. Sometimes on a huge DSLR camera, sometimes with a Polaroid, sometimes on his phone. Help turn his photos into an evening of fun for the whole family with this DIY smartphone projector from Uncommon Goods. This feel good gift is just $31.95.
For the brand new dad: This year many of my friends became dads for the first time. I feel misty just thinking about it. Salute these new dads with a very cute pair of matching shirts, one for him and one for the little nugget. This sweet set is $32.00 on Etsy.
Hopefully these items have sparked some ideas for what to get your own dad this Father's Day. My dad is going to be in town this weekend (a week early) so I'm going to shower him in surprises then.
Happy shopping!
