It's been a very decadent week here on Pop.Bop.Shop. On Monday we were pairing wine and donuts, yesterday we dove into a five course ice cream menu and today we're baking chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes.
Those who read the blog regularly know that I rarely write about anything more than once. Whether it's a restaurant, a shopping destination, a museum or a special event, I'm generally a one and done kind of girl.
I have a lot of friends who, like me, work in the marketing and communications field. But I also have plenty of friends who don't and one of the most common questions they ask me about social media is, "What is the point of Twitter?"
Well my friends, without Twitter, I never would have seen the news that the Boston Wine School and Union Square Donuts were partnering up for a tasting event.
In the winter of 2011 I met a group of friends at The Abbey in Brookline to celebrate our friend's birthday. The evening was a total disaster (you can read about the train wreck here) and I swore I would never return. So when a friend suggested we try a new restaurant on Mass Ave in Cambridge by the same name, naturally my first question was, "Any relation to the one in Brookline?"
Guys, I have a new restaurant to add to my favorites list. As I've mentioned many times before, every Thursday I have dinner with my BFF from college. Two weeks ago we headed to Allston to finally try Lone Star Taco Bar. It was that same night that we noticed a new spot on Cambridge Street, LuLu's.
When I was very little my grandparents used to rent a house every summer in Dennis on Cape Cod. We'd all pile in there - grandparents, aunts, uncles, toddlers and babies - for a week of sun, beach and lobster dinners.
If you read this blog regularly, then you already know I think Wahlburgers makes the best onion rings in the world. I've been in love with their burgers, tater tots, onion rings and shakes since my very first visit in December 2011.
Every Thursday night since I graduated (all the way back in 2006) I have dinner with one of my best friends from college. Each week we try to come up with something new and exciting to do together and last night we decided to try a restaurant that had been on both of our "must-try" lists, Lone Star Taco Bar.
To say that I am a fan of Boston chef Ana Sortun would be a drastic understatement. Her Mediterranean bakery, Sofra, is just a few blocks from my house and has become a weekend staple. Each week I look forward to popping in for a piping hot bowl of shakshuka, a fragrant pastry, an ice cold Red Dragon tea or grabbing some mezze spreads to go. Her Cambridge restaurant, Oleana, is exquisite.
Guys, something major is coming to Boston. Three words for you: Pizza on demand.
Two years ago I had the great privilege of attending the inaugural Farm to Post dinner at Post 390 (read about there here). Owner Chris Himmel and Chef Eric Brennan are sincerely committed to supporting local and created this dinner series to celebrate the best products from their favorite partners.
This one is for all my MetroWest peeps. Tomorrow, Thursday, June 19th, Harvard Sweet Boutique in Hudson, MA will be opening its doors from 11:00am - 1:30pm to preview its newest summer treats.
