Dining Out: Commonwealth

I hate to say this, but Commonwealth restaurant and I are clearly not meant to be.

Let me explain.

On my first visit to the restaurant in January, I went with a friend and we had a fantastic three course meal complete with cocktails, appetizers, entrees and dessert. A few days later when I turned my camera back on, a message popped up that I'd never received before, "Camera disk is corrupted."

Ummmm.

Dining Out: TR Street Foods

Back in November 2013 I made my first trip to Tavern Road. Over the course of that decadent meal I remember being so impressed by chef/owner Louis DiBiccari's passion and curiosity when it comes to food.

Special: Lockhart Link Burger At Shake Shack

If you've been reading Pop.Bop.Shop. for a while, you already know I am a huge fan of Shake Shack. Though I normally only write about a restaurant on my first visit, this is my sixth post about the Shack.

Dining Out: Vagabond

Two weekends ago I flew down to Miami to visit my family. I booked the trip during one of Boston's infamous February blizzards. I just had to know there was an end to winter in sight (or at least a momentary pause).

On my first night in town, my parents wanted to take me out to celebrate. We were toasting to a new project I'm involved in. I can't share the details just yet, but I look forward to letting you in on this secret by the end of the month!

Sip: Spring Cocktails

This weekend in Boston it finally started to feel like spring. We may not be able to shed our jackets and close toe shoes just yet, but we're getting close.

My favorite thing about spring is the switch from hanging out inside (hello, Netflix binges) to enjoying the sun and breeze outside. I'm very lucky to currently live in a place with a yard, so I can easily host friends for BBQs and fire pits. In addition to looking forward to entertaining outdoors again, I'm also excited to mix up some new drinks for our meals al fresco.

Sugar Rush: Phillips Candy House

If you've been reading Pop.Bop.Shop. for a while, then you already know I have a major sweet tooth. Lucky for me, this weekend marks the start of the Jewish holiday of Passover, an occasion that allows for unapologetic consumption of coconut macaroons and chocolate covered matzah.

This year, the start of Passover is the same weekend as Easter, another celebration sprinkled with treats. I know many of you are looking forward to Easter with your families and no matter how old you are, you're also probably hoping for an Easter basket.

Dining Out: The Haven

When I was four years old my grandparents moved to Jamaica Plain. With their house as one of our family's home bases, I grew to love that neighborhood, especially Jamaica Pond. I've had some of my most important conversations walking around that pond.

Though my grandfather passed away in 2008 and my grandmother has moved full time to Florida, she still has the house and my parents always stay there when they come to visit. In the past ten years, we've really gotten into exploring more and more of Jamaica Plain.

Dining Out: Kitchen

Today and tomorrow are the final two days of winter Restaurant Week here in Boston. This year, Restaurant Week has been rebranded as Dine Out Boston. Unfortunately, they didn't do a very good job of communicating that, so a lot of people have been confused or didn't realize it was happening.

Thankfully, I have a long-standing Restaurant Week tradition with two friends, so we were all over it.

Shop: Backyard Farms

Last week, on another snowy evening, I stepped out of the freezing cold and into an event that reminded me that one day, summer will come.

The event was called "Tomato Talk" and was hosted by Backyard Farms.

Dining Out: Kika

I started a new job the first week of January, in a neighborhood that is relatively uncharted territory for me. My office is located in the heart of Kendall Square in Cambridge.

Coming Soon: Breakfast For Dinner

You may remember that last fall I made my very first trip to The Breakfast Club in Allston. It's pretty hard to forget those photos of pumpkin coffee cake French toast, pumpkin pecan pancakes and that strawberry Nutella dessert. If you need a refresher, click here.

Dining Out: Franchia

A few weeks ago I was in New York City for work and in between client meetings I was able to squeeze in a dinner date and slumber party with one of my oldest and dearest friends.

For our dinner spot, she suggested a vegan restaurant just a few blocks from her apartment. I've done a lot of vegan dining in Los Angeles (Sage, A Votre Sante, Cafe Gratitude), but hardly any in New York, so I was looking forward to trying something new.
