Over the summer I wound up at a friend of a friend's birthday party at the Hard Rock Cafe. The birthday girl chose that venue because her coworker's band was playing that night and she wanted to support them. I showed up having never heard a single note of their music.
The band is called Butterworth & Co. They took the stage and as soon as their lead singer approached the mic and sang the first few bars, I already knew I was a fan.
The front man, Ray Hendricks, is a delicious mix of the voice of Ben Harper swirled with the swagger of Lenny Kravitz.
By the end of their set, I couldn't take my eyes off the stage. I was dancing to every new tune and didn't want their session to end.
The next day I looked the band up online and was psyched to discover they have an active Facebook page and their whole album is available to stream via Sound Cloud. Enjoy eight tracks (including two live tracks) here.
