Live: OMG Tour

When I was in Miami over Thanksgiving week I went to a Miami Heat game and learned that Usher and Trey Songz would be playing that very arena on new years eve! I turned to my sister and said, "We are so going to that show!"

After aggressive persuasion my sister agreed to spend new years at the concert and even walked to the arena to purchase our tickets! After a great home cooked meal on the 31st we took the Metro Mover (Miami's version of the subway) to the arena.

The opening act was named Miguel and he apparently has a single on the radio right now, but I had never heard it. I wasn't too impressed by his performance and was looking forward to Trey Songz taking the stage.

I had seen Trey Songz back in March as the opening act on Jay-Z's BP3 Tour. He was incredible! This time around he was just as fantastic, but he added a new number to his set. In the most amazing collision of artists I love, Trey covered the Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody." Enjoy this video I took of the cover:

Trey performed his well known anthems "Say Ahh" and "Bottoms Up" as well as most of his album "Ready."

Next up was the much awaited headliner, Usher! I had never seen him live before so I was excited. Usher appeared for the first time on a platform high above the audience that started at the back of the arena and moved all the way to the front, eventually placing him down on the stage. It was quite an entrance! Take a look:

Usher performed hits from the start of his career all the way up to his presents chart toppers. The set list included: "You Remind Me", "Nice and Slow", "Caught Up", "Burn", "Yeah!", "Love in this Club", "OMG" and "DJ Got Us Fallin in Love." Here's a clip of the "DJ Got Us Fallin in Love" performance:

In a very cool tribute, Usher also danced to Michael Jackson's "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough." Check it out:

Usher definitely had a suped up tour. He had a group of male dancers, a group of female dancers, a band, a DJ, huge screens behind the stage, pyrotechnics, confetti and of course, the arrival platform. It was less about the vocals and more about putting on an entertaining show. He performed for two hours and we danced the entire night!

If you can make it to the OMG Tour in your city, I highly recommend it! Go dance, dance, like its the last, last night of your life, life!
