Stay: The Beach House

Two hotels on two coasts in two days? That's just how I roll.

Ever since I started my current job in the spring of 2011 I have been traveling like crazy. In the past six months I've spent about 15 days of every month on the road. In the last 14 days I've been to New York, Cleveland, Miami, New York again and finally Los Angeles.

When I arrived to LA on Tuesday I went straight to my company's office. That night I had dinner with a friend at The Tasting Kitchen on Abbot Kinney in Venice (which by the way is incredible and I had a celebrity sighting!) and then wound up checking into my hotel around 11:00pm.

This trip I was staying at a hotel on Hermosa Beach called The Beach House. The lobby feels like something out of Architectural Digest.

There's a sky light in the ceiling that brings incredible warmth into the space.

Apparently people really love this hotel because they have quite the merchandise display in the lobby.

Bleary eyed fron the time difference and the long day, I rolled my bag onto the elevator and up to the third floor.

When I opened the door to my room I was amazed. It was really more like an apartment.

The room had a big, fluffy, all white bed that was beckoning to my weary traveling self.

I also had a living room, complete with sliding shades that lead out to a balcony.

The living room area had a big flat screen TV and a working fireplace.

I even had a kitchenette!

Complete with sink and stove. A girl could really set up shop in here.

Behind the cabinet doors was a coffee maker, plates, an ice bucket, glasses and wine glasses. I loved that the wine glasses were each tied with a blue piece of ribbon.

The bathroom was another excellent feature, super spacious and again, all white.

I had a jacuzzi tub (which I didn't have any time to use), which was being watched over by a yellow duck.

I've seen many clever "Do Not Disturb" signs in my travels, but this one was particularly adorable and reads, "Resting, shhhhh."

I had an amazing night's sleep in that big fluffy bed and because my body wasn't used to being three hours behind I woke up at 5:30am (8:30am Boston time). I walked out onto my balcony and watched the sun come up over the beach.

I sat out there for about an hour and it was so peaceful.

It was very difficult to get up from my perch and get ready for the work day. Who would want to leave this look out spot?

In all the times I've visited LA I've never been to Hermosa. This was my first time in the neighborhood and I really loved it. The views are spectacular and the community is really relaxed. In addition to it's beachfront location, The Beach House is also right around the corner from a Starbucks and Frosted Cupcakery. Need I say more?
