Shop: Soodee

Thanks to a delightful economic state called the recession I have been staying away from Boston's most luxurious fashion mecca, Newbury Street. Why tempt yourself with something you know you cannot have? Despite my efforts to stay away, I found myself strolling along that street of retail heaven and I literally gasped when I saw the most gorgeous item on a mannequin outside a boutique.

This trench (could be a coat or a dress) literally drew me toward it as I discovered the delicate and beautiful buttons along the sleeves and the back. Naturally I had to go into the store that owned this magnificent piece.

Inside the walls of the boutique I found several more breathtaking items. Formal dresses, cocktail dresses, suits, skirts, sweaters, jackets, belts and jewelry. Whoever is the buyer for this store, I would like to give her a huge hug and an emphatic "thank you!"

I would discover the boutique is called Soodee and it has two locations on Newbury Street (how posh). The owners have decided to consolidate into one location at 170 Newbury Street. What does this mean? A blow out sale at the second location. At the Soodee at 293 Newbury Street dresses are on sale starting at $30 dollars. Yes, $30 dollar cocktail dresses on Newbury Street. Hell has frozen over and the pigs are flying.

Put your recessionista state of mind on the shelf and let your fashionista spirit run wild inside the walls of Soodee. No guilt, just glamour.

Keep up with what's new at Soodee by reading the store's blog.
