Sugar Fix: EHChocolatier Passover Candy

I think it's safe to say I am EHChocolatier's biggest fan. The Somerville chocolate makers, Elaine Hsieh and Catharine Sweeney, create the most delicious, decadent confections that are almost too beautiful to eat (almost!).

Work It: IDENTITIES Fashion Show

You may remember me posting about IDENTITIES last year, which is Harvard's student-run fashion show. Each year the models walk in front of a sold out room (600 people!) and another 4,000 fashionistas streaming the event online.

This year IDENTITIES is presenting its 10th annual runway show. The mission of the peer-led organization is to "highlight fashion as an artistic and intellectual pursuit, and to celebrate cultural achievement in the industry."

Stream: The Affair

Last spring at a dinner with friends one of my favorite couples recommended that I start watching "The Affair" on Showtime. Unfortunately I don't have that channel as part of my cable package, so I got to work researching where else I could watch the show online. Without a "Showtime Anytime" login, I decided to download season one on iTunes.

Movie Musings: Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

On Valentine's Day weekend when I saw "How To Be Single" one of the previews was for Tina Fey's "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot." I knew right away that I wanted to see it. A few weeks later when my aunt was in town from Israel, we decided to go on one of those chilly, windy, late February afternoons.

Stream: Younger

In February as I was preparing for my Miami trip, I asked a friend for her recommendations on what to download for the plane. This particular friend is a pop culture expert and I have loved every show, movie and book she has ever recommended to me. Whenever I question something she suggests, she fires back, "Have I ever steered you wrong?" Nope, not once.

Movie Musings: My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2

"My Big Fat Greek Wedding" came out in August 2002 (it was the summer before my freshman year of college) and I went to see it with one of my best childhood friends. We laughed throughout the entire movie and agreed that if it had been called "My Big Fat Jewish Wedding" not much would have changed. Jewish families and Greek families center around the same same three things - food, noise and guilt.

Read: When Breath Becomes Air

You may not immediately recognize the name Paul Kalanithi, but it's highly likely you've read his work. In January 2014, Paul wrote an op-ed piece for The New York Times titled "How Long Have I Got Left?" that went viral. After being diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer at the age of 36, he very courageously shared how he was processing his diagnosis. His bravery and candor struck a chord with readers all over the world. The piece dominated my Facebook newsfeed for weeks.

Sugar Fix: EHChocolatier Easter Candy

Though I don't celebrate Easter, I have many friends and family members who do. I also happen to think the Cadbury Cream Egg is one of the world's most delicious inventions.

Shop: SOAK & Shoreline

In my twenties, when my friends started getting engaged, I found myself going to a lot of spas. It seemed almost every bachelorette party I attended included a stop at a spa for massages or facials or pedicures. Now, in my thirties, I am much more into creating that luxurious experience at home.

Enter SOAK & Shoreline, sister stores in the heart of downtown Newburyport, offering a plethora of bath, beauty and relaxation products. SOAK is right on the corner of State Street and Middle Street.

Shop: Life Is Good

This whole week I've been sharing with you all the places I've explored as part of my road trip with Shop Newburyport. When the team suggested we pop into Life is Good, I was a bit suprised. Life is Good is an international sensation, not something you think of as hyper local. Well, when we walked in and got to chatting with one of the store's employees, we learned that the Newburyport store was actually the first ever brick and mortar location for the brand. #TheMoreYouKnow

Shop: Bobbles & Lace

I don't know about you, but the unseasonably warm weather we've been having this month has me in the mood to shop! I want to ditch all my sweaters, scarves, leggings and boots and refresh my closet with short sleeves, light fabrics and bright colors.

That impulse was in full effect at Bobbles & Lace on Pleasant Street in Newburyport this past weekend. I was tempted by all the spring and summer items, like this rose and navy romper (yes, it's shorts!).

Shop: Loose Leashes

This week it's all about Newburyport on Pop.Bop.Shop. Yesterday I shared with you my incredible vegan lunch at Mandarava and today I want to tell you about a very special couple running the most adorable business called Loose Leashes.

Amy and Ron Schmidt met and got married in Ipswich, MA. After a stint in New Jersey, they have returned home to the north shore of Massachusetts and now live and run their business in Newburyport.
