Golden Globe Awards 2015: Best Dressed

Last night the 2015 awards show season kicked off with the Golden Globes. In my opinion, The Globes is the best awards show for two reasons: 1) it honors both television and movies, so you get to see all your favorite stars and 2) it's live, meaning that anything can happen and the cameras will catch it (go slow on that Moet, folks).

As I do every year, I hosted a viewing party. I feel very fortune to have found a group of girls who are as pop culture obsessed as I am and every year we assemble for the Globes, Oscars and Emmys. Tomorrow I'll be sharing with you all the details of this year's party.

Today I want to talk about the most important part of the show, the fashion! Below you will find my list of the best dressed - a perfect dozen.

BEST DRESSED

1) Matt Bomer - If you saw the movie "Magic Mike," then you remember that Matt Bomer's character had a routine at the strip club where he played a Ken doll. Ever since then, I haven't been able to see him in any other way. He does look like Ken! Last night he took home a trophy for the TV movie "The Normal Heart" and crushed it on the red carpet in a Ralph Lauren Black Label tuxedo.

2) Liev Schreiber - Liev was all over my best dressed lists last year and he's back again. On the red carpet with his love, Naomi Watts, he looked classically handsome in Prada.

3) Michael Keaton - Maybe Michael appeared handsome in stark comparison to his role in "Birdman," but I was definitely wow-ed by how sharp he looked last night. I was also touched by how much he choked up while thanking his son during his acceptance speech.

4) Jake Gyllenhaal - Jake walked the red carpet in two capacities: as a nominee for his role in "Nightcrawler" and as his older sister Maggie's date. Swoon.

5) Eddie Redmayne - If you've been reading the blog for a while, you know my number one celebrity crush is Eddie Redmayne. Last night he graced the carpet in Gucci and wound up taking home a trophy for his role as Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything." On the carpet he told Ryan Seacrest that the role was, "A great mixture of privilege and fear."

6) Emma Stone - For the ladies, Emma Stone is my #1 pick, turning heads in Lanvin. During the pre-show on E! celebrity stylist Brad Goreski predicted that Emma would be the big winner tonight on the red carpet and he was 100 percent correct. Her jumpsuit - a combination of glittering sequins and straight leg pants - was somehow both fashion forward and traditional Hollywood glamour. One of the girls watching with me said, "She's the next Diane Keaton."

7) Sienna Miller - Though I can't recall the last film she was in, I did love Sienna's Miu Miu dress. The whole look was perfect from the hair to the jewels to the plunging V-neck.

8) Tina Fey - When Tina Fey first rose to fame with "30 Rock" she made a lot of mistakes on the red carpet. Tonight, returning for her second year as co-host, she looked great in a custom Antoni Berardi dress. The style was flattering and the high pony tail paired with it was beautiful.

9) Kate Beckinsale - I didn't see Kate Beckinsale on the red carpet at all. I only noticed her Elie Saab dress when she took the stage to present an award. I love the bedazzled top, the sheer skirt and the sock bun.

10) Reese Witherspoon - Reese walked the red carpet with Cheryl Strayed, the woman she portrays in "Wild." She radiated in this silver shimmering Calvin Klein dress.

11) Jessica Chastain - Va va va voom! Jessica Chastain turned up the heat last night in a smoky Atelier Versace gown. Many of the girls I watched with hated this look, but I think it's her edgiest yet.

12) John Legend and Chrissy Teigen - Who doesn't love John and Chrissy? From their adorable Instagram photos to their fashion A game, they never disappoint. Chrissy is subdued and elegant in this Zuhair Murad dress.

Now, I couldn't share a best dressed list without at least acknowledging one or two of the worst dressed. For those who love to hate, these last two are for you.

WORST DRESSED

1) Kristen Wiig - Oh, Kristen. You are so hilarious, but this whole look is so wrong. The hair is a train wreck, the dress has no shape up top and you look completely washed out. Not even your laugh out loud funny bits with Bill Hader could save this.

2) Matthew McConaughey - Alright, alright, alright. Matthew, we need to talk. You look like a creature from the lagoon. What happened since last year's victory lap? Get it together!

And there you have it! My list of the best (and the worst) dressed.

Tell me, who were your favorites on the red carpet?
