Clear your schedule for this Saturday, June 16th. For the 19th year in a row, residents of Boston's South End neighborhood will be opening their private homes, yards, gardens and gates for the annual South End Garden Tour.
I went on the tour for the first time last summer and I can honestly say that in 27 years of living in this city, nothing has surprised and delighted me the way this outing did. You can read my post from last year's tour here. The photos from that post also became a slideshow on Boston.com.

This year's tour runs from 10:00am - 4:00pm. The tour is self guided so you can start and end any time and there is no pressure to meet up with a tour group or a tour guide.
You can purchase tickets in advance for $20 or at the check in table on Saturday for $25. Admission includes access to all of the stops on the tour and to the closing reception which is being held at City Year's headquarters on Columbus Ave. Throughout the tour local artists will be painting in the gardens and their works from the day will be for sale at the reception.
