Met Ball 2012: Best And Worst Dressed

Last night Vogue magazine hosted the Met Ball in New York City. This event is one of my favorites all year because the stars take their biggest risks when it comes to their fashion choices. In fact, boldness is encouraged. Continue reading to see my picks for the best and worst dressed of the night.

BEST DRESSED

Beyonce Knowles in Givenchy - Let's be honest, Beyonce is simply the fiercest girl on the planet. Evidenced by her incredible post-baby body and her daring choice for the Met Ball. This dress leaves very little to the imagination with its form fitting lace, but adds a bold pop of color with the deep purple, feathered skirt. You go, B.

Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren - Though I am not sure how Camilla Belle scored an invite to this Hollywood A list event, I have to hand it to her, she looks stunning. The sheer straps on this dress make it appear to be floating and the dark lipstick gives her overall look an edgy feel that is totally appropriate for this occasion.

Paula Patton in Vera Wang - For those who don't know, Paula Patton is married to R&B heart throb Robin Thicke, and in my mind they have an intensely passionate relationship. Seeing her in this pink, Vera Wang confection, you can see why she's the kind of woman a man writes songs about.

Dianna Agron in Carolina Herrera - It seems Miss Herrera may have a new muse. Move over, Renee Zellweger! Dianna looks classic Hollywood in this plunging V, jewel tone green gown. I love the finger waves in her hair, they compliment this dress perfectly.

Kate Bosworth - This photo of Kate reminds me of one of my favorite Avedon photographs. I love the cheekiness of her short, flapper dress. The dark lipstick (clearly a trend) and the sleek bun transform this look into a perfect 10.

Jessica Stam in Dior - This Dior dress is exactly what you should wear to the Met Ball. It's elegant but also has an element of costume.

Rose Huntington-Whiteley in Burberry - Like Kate Bosworth, Rose is also rocking the sleek bun. I am drooling over this slinky, black on black striped dress.

Amber Heard in Zac Posen - Zac Posen has a true understanding of the female form, as you can see from this figure hugging gown. I love that it's fitted through the knee and then billows out into a regal train in the back.

Leighton Meester in Marchesa - For years now Marchesa has been one of my favorite designers. Leighton looks like the ultimate prize to be won in this gold number.

Jessica Alba in Michael Kors - Jessica Alba, dressed by Team Brad, looked like a human trophy in this shimmering Michael Kors one shoulder gown. Did anyone order a goddess?

Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte - Say what you will about this look, but it reminds of one of my favorite books, "The Great Gatsby," and for that, I love it.

Ed Westwick in Prada - My future husband, Gossip Girl's Chuck Bass, came to last night's affair wearing Prada. P is for Prada and perfection. And, "Pretty please will you marry me?"

WORST DRESSED

Mary-Kate Olsen - I know that the Olsen twins are staples on the New York City fashion scene, but really M-K? You look like the grim reaper.

Elizabeth Banks in Mary Katrantzou - I think all of those costumes from "The Hunger Games" may have distorted Elizabeth's taste level. This crazy, overly patterned get up is a total disaster.

Kristen Stewart in Balenciaga - I am not sure why Kristen Stewart comes to these types of events since she clearly hates them. While I could see this dress on say, a Kardashian sister, it doesn't suit her. Not to mention those horrendous white shoes.

Shailene Woodley in Christopher Kane - Those who read the blog regularly know I have been harping on Shailene since she first appeared on the red carpet last winter to promote "The Descendants." Every choice she has made calls for an emergency dial to the fashion police.

Eva Mendes in Prada - Last I heard Eva is still dressed by Team Zoe and this orange number is a major flop. She looks like a Halloween arts and craft project.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Valentino - I love SJP, but this floral dress looks like my grandmother's table cloth. Or curtains. Carrie would certainly disapprove.

Emma Stone in Lanvin - While I get that Emma is young and exuberant, this red Lanvin dress looks like a cast off from "Toddlers & Tiaras."

Melania Trump in Marc Bouwer Couture - As I am typing her name I am just now realizing that Teresa Guidice of "Real Housewives of New Jersey" quite possibly named her demon spawn after this Melania. I digress. Mrs. Trump looks like a Star Trek fembot in this white dress with pointed shoulders.

Now that you've read my picks, who made your best and worst list?
