Stay: Double Tree New Orleans

This past week I spent five days in New Orleans for work. I had never been to NOLA before and I was really excited to make my first trip.

After a super turbulent flight (thank you storm patterns all up and down the east coast) we arrived in New Orleans. After an hour shuttle ride, we finally arrived at our home for the week, the Double Tree on Canal Street in downtown New Orleans.

This was no ordinary Double Tree. This Double Tree has a Pinkberry at the front!

I am pretty sure I couldn't have dreamed up a fro yo situation this perfect. Did I mention this Pinkberry has two outdoor patios?

The lobby of our hotel was beautiful and decorated with charming paintings.

After we check in the front desk clerk gave us each a warm, chocolate chip cookie which is apparently the signature move of the Double Tree. Well played.

The keys to our rooms had advertisements on them for the movie "The Lorax," proving that you can advertise a product just about anywhere.

We took the elevator up to the 12th floor and when I opened the door to my room I was thrilled to see how spacious it was! On my last work trip I stayed in a match box at the Ace Hotel in Manhattan. I'm going to call this an upgrade.

My room had two queen beds which were super comfortable.

The room had a handsome desk with a black and white photo next to it of one of the New Orleans street cars.

The bathroom in my room felt very luxurious. For those who like to steal toiletries from hotels, these were all citrus flavored.

Being on the 12th floor, I had a great view of downtown. I loved one building in particular that was pastel colored.

Throughout our stay every time we'd return back to the hotel the staff would say, "Welcome back, ladies!" The front desk staff helped us with directions countless times and even hailed us a cab on the last day when we needed to go back to the airport (which is a solid 30 minute cab ride away).

The nice thing about this particular hotel is it's location. It's a two minute walk to Bourbon Street, a four minute walk to the French Quarter and the waterfront, and a ten minute walk to the Convention Center. It's the perfect location for business travelers.

Stay tuned, I've got many NOLA posts to come!
