Gossip Girl: Kiss And Tell

Thank you, my Upper East Siders, for your patience. As you know, I wasn't able to watch Gossip Girl last week because Comcast decided not to record it. Last night I was unable to watch because I was on a business trip in Pittsburgh, PA. Tonight I caught up on both episodes and at long last, I can deliver you my recaps!

Last week:

Much to my surprise, this hour of Gossip Girl picked up exactly where the last one left off, at Blair and Louis' wedding reception, which is still in full swing despite the runaway bride. Did anyone else notice the track playing was Madonna's "Like A Virgin." Weird.

Serena searches high and low for Blair all over the venue, including the roof, and then makes a strange reference to the movie "The Hangover." Even in the first five minutes the writing this episode seems off.

Chuck, Serena and Nate leave the wedding with the catering waitress in search of Blair. Nate and the waitress continue their flirtation and for some reason she lies to him about who she is talking to on the phone. In this same scene it's revealed that the catering waitress is Charlie "Lola" Rhodes. Perhaps other people picked up on this last week, but I didn't put two and two together.

Georgina shows up at the Empire and implies to the group that Serena sent in the video of Chuck and Blair to Gossip Girl. Seriously, why is Georgina still here?

Serena tries to have a heart to heart with Blair and compares her ruining Blair's wedding (by sending in the video) to Blair running off with her one true love, Dan. Since Serena doesn't currently have a romantic relationship with Dan, I'm going to go ahead and say that's not the same.

In her hotel room hide out Chuck makes another plea to Blair and she rejects him again. Again! This is getting unbearable.

In the second to last scene of the hour, Georgina admits she picked up where Gossip Girl left off. I knew she wasn't the real Gossip Girl!

Finally, Dan watches in agony as Blair gets into the limo with Louis to leave for their honeymoon and the writers seem to be implying that Dan sent in the Chuck/Blair video to Gossip Girl. Interesting!

Last night:

This week Blair returns from her honeymoon and in an attempt to distract herself from her royal duties, focuses on playing Cupid for Dan and Serena. Blair sets it up so that Dan and Serena each think they are meeting someone at the same restaurant, each of the their contacts are late, and then they wind up dining together. How convenient!

Later that day Blair gets ready for her first post-honeymoon appearance at the Cardiac Ball. How stunning was her dress?

Before heading to the Cardiac Ball, Blair brings Serena to The Spectator party. Blair winds up alone in a corner with Dan where they share a very awkward moment, particularly when Blair says to Dan, "Are you going to make a move, or what?" Blair means a move on Serena, but Dan is looking at Blair like he's a starving man and he wants to eat her.

A few minutes later, alone again, Dan kisses Blair and Georgina happens to get it on camera and look at that, Serena is right behind her!

Georgina then takes that photo and marches right over to Chuck to give him the first look. Oh, here we go.

On the subject of Georgina, very interesting that she has spies all over the city including a mole inside The Spectator!

There were some major developments on the Ivy/Charlie front this hour. At The Spectator party Charlie "Lola" Rhodes comes running toward Ivy and says, "Ivy! Remember me, we took that acting class together?" Now that's uncomfortable.

It gets even more awkward when Nate plops down beside the two blonds and says, "You two could be sisters" to which Charlie "Lola" replies, "My mom used to say that all the time!"

Charlie "Lola" is definitely beginning to put the pieces together. I cannot wait to see how this all comes to a head.

At the close of the episode we learn two new pieces of information: first, Blair's royal minder wants Louis for herself and second, Ivy is apparently staying with Cee Cee in the Hamptons! It's moments like this that I remember why I am still watching this show.

In previews for next week Dan kisses Blair again and Chuck sees that as a direct challenge. Dan vs. Chuck? Give me front row tickets to that match up!
