So Long, Uncle Stevie

A few years ago when I bought my flat screen TV at Best Buy they were running a deal for one free month of a magazine of your choice. I selected Entertainment Weekly and I have been a loyal subscriber ever since. Entertainment Weekly is my pop culture bible and every week I look forward to several regular features including a column from author Stephen King.

King, who refers to himself in his columns as "Uncle Stevie," penned his final weekly column for Entertainment Weekly this week after seven years. I was incredibly sad because I've enjoyed his wit, sarcasm, impressive lexicon, and superb recommendations for must-experience books, television shows, movies and music.

While reading his farewell column I laughed out loud several times, but was also touched by the way he described his goal for his column. He wrote:

"Basically, I want you to watch this, read that, and listen to the other thing. I want to fill you with my enthusiasm; I want to pass it on like a kiss."

I was struck by the sentiment here because that is exactly how I feel about this blog. Its amazing to feel commonality with a brilliant writer. Thanks, Uncle Stevie.
