Once upon a JDate I was introduced to the artist Trey Songz. I was immediately hooked as his tunes are an addicting fusion of John Legend, R. Kelly, Justin Timberlake, and Outkast. Did I mention he also has a ridiculously gorgeous body? Details, details.
In March I went to Jay-Z's BP3 tour, during which Trey Songz opened for Jay. I felt nothing could top seeing Trey perform live. I was right, until MTV decided to feature Trey as part of their Unplugged series. During this session he not only performs his chart topping hits, but he does mash ups like his "I invented sex" with Marvin Gaye's "Let's get it on" or his "I need a girl" with the Kings of Leon's "Use somebody."
In addition to the new spins on his albums' tracks, MTV also conducted a short interview with Trey in which he cites Sting and Maroon 5 as two of his biggest influences. Very cool to hear him talk about his rise to fame.
