This week's American Idol results show had two heavy hitters performing - Kanye West and Kelly Clarkson.
I was already alarmed Kanye was performing on such a mainstream, cheesy, family show, but I was truly caught off guard when he emerged on the stage wearing a denim jacket, jeans, a blue shirt (yes, three blue items) and black leather gloves. Um? Explain yourself. The lyric "How could you be so heartless?" never had more meaning.
Additionally, Kelly, the first ever American idol (and one of my faves) returned to the show (per contractual obligation I'm sure) to sing her newest single "My Life Would Suck Without You". She comes out onto the stage to chat with Ryan Seacrest before belting it out and she is wearing the most confusing outfit! At first I was prompted to examine her, and squint to see if she was in fact hiding a pregnant belly. She was wearing a black ensemble that may have been a dress, may have been a black shirt and skirt, a black shirt and shorts, a black shirt and black leggings . . . its mystery! Kelly, your vocals are unreal, hire a stylist to match.
