Stay: Loews Regency San Francisco

It's been over a year since my last hotel review (my Fashion Week hotel, the Hudson in NYC), but I'd be remiss if I didn't share my fantastic experience at the Loews Regency in San Francisco.

The Loews used to be the Mandarin Oriental and just changed hands this year. The hotel is located in the heart of the Financial District, at the corner of Sansome and Pine.

When I checked in, the woman at the front desk informed me that my room would be on the 46th floor. I couldn't wait to get up there and see the view.

I stepped off the elevator on my floor and walked toward a long glass hallway.

From that hallway you get a gorgeous view of the whole city and the bay. The Transamerica Tower is right there and Alcatraz is visible too.

With a view this expansive, I couldn't wait to see my room.

When I opened the door, my jaw fell to the floor. This wasn't a hotel room, it was a whole apartment!

Steps inside the door there was a large desk (perfect for my two laptops, phone charger and camera charger) and a comfy couch.

The bed was set against the far wall and was hands down the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in.

Each night the housekeeping staff does turn down and leaves two pieces of chocolate on the bed. One night I was home when they knocked and the woman was so kind and friendly. Before leaving she snuck me six pieces of chocolate!

The highlight of the room was undoubtedly the bathroom. It was enormous!

The sink had plenty of counter space, plus a lighted mirror.

There was a luxurious bathtub:

And a separate rain shower:

Not pictured, the toilet, which had its own separate section of the bathroom, behind a divider wall.

In addition to the amazing, fluffy bed and the bathroom fit for a queen, my room had the most spectacular view. Each morning I got to see the sunrise around 6:00am (mainly because I still had east coast client calls to take) and it was just breathtaking watching the sun come up over the bay.

Here are two pics I snapped and shared on Instagram:

During my stay I didn't wind up having time to eat in the hotel restaurant (though the menu looked delicious), but one night I did order room service. Let me tell you, the Loews makes a mean grilled cheese sandwich and the world's most refreshing pitcher of ice tea.

The Loews served as my personal HQ for five days and every night I felt like I was coming home to my own private oasis in the sky. Each morning I would wake up (after a blissful sleep in the miracle bed), throw the curtain opens and watch the sun come up.

The only downside? Now no other SF hotel can compare.
