Listen: Evolution Of Michael Jackson

As the name Pop.Bop.Shop. suggests, I am a lover of all things pop - pop culture, pop music and of course, the King of Pop.

Yesterday a friend posted a new video by a cappella group Pentatonix called "Evolution of Michael Jackson." If you aren't familiar with Pentatonix, I've written about them three times - their NSYNC medley, their tribute to the late Whitney Houston and their cameo in "Pitch Perfect 2." They also won NBC's "The Sing-Off."

Growing up, my parents only listened to two kinds of music - jazz and Motown. The sounds of the Jackson 5 and later, Michael Jackson, were always blasting through the speakers in our house. I have such clear memories of dancing to "Black or White" with my cousins. There may have been choreography.

My love of Michael Jackson's music has continued throughout my adulthood. In fact, for my 26th birthday, I went to see a Michael Jackson cover band called Who's Bad at the House of Blues.

This mashup marries three of my favorite things: acoustic covers of pop songs, Pentatonix and Michael Jackson. As of last night, the video already has 1.9 million views.

How amazing is that? I may have watched it 15 times at work yesterday. Whoops.

Tell me, do you have a favorite Michael Jackson song? Was it included in the mashup?
