Read: Catching Fire & Mockingjay

Last week I shared with you my obsession with "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins (read the review here). Though I managed to write that post without giving away any plot developments, I am now finding it impossible to review the next two books in the series without ruining it for interested readers. So with that I say, SPOILER ALERT!

"Catching Fire" the second book in the series finds our tributes, Katniss and Peeta, home after surviving the Hunger Games. It's at this point that the Peeta/Katniss/Gale love triangle begins to really heat up and you aren't quite sure which man to root for. It's takes a brilliant writer to position both men as such valiant suitors that the female reader cannot choose one over the other.

As the story unfolds Peeta and Katniss find themselves called back to the Hunger Games for the 75th anniversary edition of the competition. This floored me! Throughout the first book I was blind sided countless times and Suzanne Collins did it again! It is from this point, through the duration of the book, that I can see what an incredible movie this is going to be. I found myself wanting to cast each and every new character in the 75th Hunger Games as they each had such unique and strong personalities. I am particularly excited to see who they cast at Finnick, Johanna and Beetee.

The third and final book "Mockingjay" might be my favorite of the series. My heart was pounding the entire time and I know when the book comes to life on the big screen it's going to be absolutely tremendous. The scenes of our warriors navigating their crumbling nation are Hollywood gold.

The final paragraph of "Mockingjay", which is a loving exchange between Katniss and Peeta, may be my favorite moment in all three books. I felt like I was on the emotional and physical roller coaster with these two every step of the way. For me, this ending rewards the reader for all the stress, concern and heartbreak endured as fans of this couple.

If you couldn't tell, I absolutely loved The Hunger Games series. I flew through all three books in less than 10 days. I literally could not wait to see what would happen next to the point where I almost missed my T stop many times. If you're wrapping up a book and trying to decide what to read next, I can't say enough about this series. Get your hands on it!
