Live: Rihanna

Tonight I went with my favorite concert buddy to see Rihanna's Loud tour. When we first bought the tickets we were ecstatic to learn Cee Lo Green would be the opening act. A few weeks ago, given the unexpected popularity of "The Voice," Cee Lo had to back out. What a waste of my months of rehearsing "Forget You."

After a fantastic dinner at Bacco in the North End, we walked to TD Garden for the show. We were hoping we missed the opening act, but sadly, he hadn't even taken the stage.

The opening act was J.Cole, a Drake look-a-like, newly signed by Jay-Z. I wasn't at all impressed by him. Sorry, bro. Check out this video I took and judge for yourself:

Rihanna took the stage and the building exploded with cheers and applause. I had forgotten so many of my early Rihanna favorites! Pon de Replay, Shut Up and Drive, Hate That I Love You, Don't Stop the Music and Take a Bow, just to name a few.

Rihanna belted out every single song. There was absolutely no lip syncing, which is more than I can say for some other divas I've seen in concert (looking at you, Mariah). Not only does she have a powerful voice, in person, she is so strikingly beautiful. That skin!

My favorite number was a mash up of Run this Town and Live Your Life. I had forgotten Rihanna was featured on both of those anthems! Here's the start to Run this Town:

To give you a feel for the show, below are some more videos!

Rihanna opened the show with Only Girl in the World. Check out her electric blue coat!

She stripped down to this bedazzled bikini for Disturbia. I am obsessed with her neon, pink boots!

Her latest radio single, S&M. The choreography for this number was super racy!

After the smoke clears, check out the pink tank Rihanna rolled in on for Hard. She and her dancers are in camo gear for this number.

The one, tiny down side to the show was all of Rihanna's costume changes. We wound up waiting quite a bit between songs when she'd exit the stage to change. I'm all for a glitzy, glamorous show, but don't leave your fans waiting like a boyfriend outside the Forever 21 dressing room.

Boston was the last stop on the U.S. leg of the Loud tour. As such, it seemed like Rihanna, her band and her dancers were each giving it their all and having a blast.

Thank you, Rihanna, for this extra dose of girl power before I head into a new work week! I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing on a Sunday night.
