Tonight after a delicious dinner at Rami's I wandered up Harvard Street with a friend to the new frozen yogurt place, Berry Freeze. Several years ago, Los Angeles based Pinkberry took the dessert world by storm when it launched frozen breakfast yogurt with fresh fruit toppings. Since then, several impostors have popped up across the country including Coolidge Corner's newest addition, Berry Freeze.
Berry Freeze, much like a place I have written about before called Top This, allows you to pick up a bowl, swirl your own yogurt, scoop your own toppings and then simply pay by the weight of your cup at the end.
In a new twist, Berry Freeze asks what color spoon you would like. Your options are neon pink, neon green or neon blue. It seemed like an incredibly odd "perk" to me. Choosing your own spoon color? Who cares.
Tonight I was in a chocolate mood so I decided to go with the chocolate/coconut swirl frozen yogurt. On top of it I put oreos, reeses pieces, banana and animal crackers.
My friend chose the chocolate yogurt and topped it with fresh strawberries and chocolate chips.
We sat in the candy colored chairs under the funky light fixtures and grinned from ear to ear with fro yo bliss.
