Dining Out: Stephanie's on Newbury

This morning I had brunch at Stephanie's on Newbury, an icon in the Boston dining scene. Stephanie's, along with Sonsie, are the places to see and be seen on Newbury Street. Typically I try to stay away from the cliche, tourist attraction type of restaurants, but at the suggestion of a friend we decided to take advantage of Stephanie's prime outdoor location and bask in the sun.

When we first arrived the two baby faced hostesses let us know the wait would be 45 minutes. Although a bit peeved, we used this time to shop at the incredible Ted Baker, located directly across the street from the restaurant.

Once it was our turn to be seated we were led to a cozy table for two right in the sun at the corner of the patio - prime people watching location. Our waitress looked like a blond version of Jersey Shore's JWoww and seemed to disappeared for unnaturally long amounts of time.

We started the brunch with mimosas which were the perfect ratio of orange juice to champagne. I ordered the vegetable sandwich which comes with roasted red pepper, cucumber, onion, sweet potato, avocado and muenster cheese. Although that list of ingredients reads like a bit of hodge podge, it was fresh and delicious! The sandwich also came with lightly dressed field greens.

My dining companion ordered the eggs benedict which came inside two delicate brioche puffs, was served with a light hollandaise sauce, spicy homes fries and field greens. An A+ on the presentation of this dish!

Around us fellow diners were ordering the strawberry topped belgian waffle, the frittered french toast, the vegetable omlette, and the pancakes, which all looked sublime.

Stephanie's is the perfect place to take a Boston newbie for a top quality meal in a must-see location. Just be aware, Sunday brunch is their busiest time, so be prepared to wait.
