Dining Out: Temptations Cafe

This past weekend I had the opportunity to revisit a place I hadn't been since high school! I had dinner with three girlfriends at Temptations Cafe in Nyack, NY.

Temptations is located right on Main Street in the center of town. The cafe doubles as an ice cream parlor and a restaurant. It feels like an old fashion soda shop with a modern, hippie glow. When you first walk in, the glasses cases of ice cream are to your right and the entire wall on the left is covered in shelf after shelf of penny candy. Yum-o.

We decided to hang out and have dinner. We started with onion rings which were generous in size, perfectly battered and reminded me of my summers on Cape Cod.

We also had chicken fingers (see, we still eat like we are in high school). One of my dining companions said, "put in the blog that these are the best chicken fingers I have ever had." There you have it, love.

For dinner we tried the black bean quesadilla, the veggie sandwich and the salad with chicken. The quesadilla was baked (tasted lighter) and the mix of veggies and cheese was heavenly.

The veggie sandwich was enormous and packed with crisp, colorful, delicious produce. It also came with sweet potato fries, which sadly were a disappointment.

The salad was also fresh and came topped with a generous portion of chicken and avocado.

In a place called Temptations, you have to have dessert. In addition to candy and ice cream, they offer pie, cake, cookies and cupcakes. We decided to split one red velvet cupcake. The cupcake was served warm and topped with cream cheese frosting and sprinkles. It was sugar nirvana.

Other than a stumbling 16 year old waiter, our dinner and dessert at Temptations was superb. Perfect comfort food in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, at a fair price. Go ahead, get tempted.
