Dining Out: Fresh

I've been having such a blast reliving my Israel trip with you. Today I wanted to share with you a great lunch spot my friend and I discovered in Tel Aviv called Fresh.

Fresh is actually a chain with locations popping up all over the country. We went to a location in downtown Tel Aviv, but I also walked by one in Jerusalem.

The Tel Aviv location has a charming outdoor patio. All of the decor is white and melon green.

We were seated on the outer perimeter of the patio which is lined with window boxes of brightly colored flowers.

Our waiter delivered us menus, one in Hebrew and one in English. Clearly they are into coffee.

What I found hilarious was their menu code, including a color to mark dishes appropriate for women who are pregnant or breast feeding. I can honestly say I have never seen that before.

To start, my lunch date ordered freshly blended apple and carrot juice. Check out that hue!

I went with a Diet Coke. In Israel, soda is typically served in glass bottles which never gets old to me. I feel like I'm in a 1950s diner.

For our meals, we each selected one of Fresh's signature salads. My date choose the lentil salad which was topped with shredded cheese and ground nuts.

I went for the Fresh house salad. Nothing fancy, just lettuce, tomato, cucumber, roasted red peppers, shredded cheese and slivered almonds.

We had plopped down at Fresh after a huge brunch, hours of shopping and knowing we would be eating dinner soon after we got home that afternoon. We were seeking a place to rest our feet and to have a light meal. Fresh was perfect.

In my next Israel post I will share with you the meal where I had my first bite of haloumi cheese. Game changer.
