Dining Out: George's in the Grove

Last year on new years eve day (December 31st) my mother and I met two friends for lunch at George's in the Grove and made a fantastic discovery - they serve free, bottomless champagne at lunch! I immediately decided this had to become an annual tradition.

When we returned for the second annual free champagne lunch we sat outside at a high top table. George's is easy to spot because it has huge, purple umbrellas out front.

We had been seated about thirty second when our scrumptious waiter arrived with the bubbly! He also brought a basket of warm, french bread.

My mom started with the meat and cheese plate which came on a pig shaped wooden cutting board.

We split the endive salad which came with green apples, pecans and blue cheese. The endive was too bitter and we wished the greens had been arugula instead. Ordering misstep!

I ordered the veggie burger which came with the most perfect french fries. As far as veggie burgers go (and I've eaten millions) this one is pretty delicious. It has a similar consistency to falafel.

Although we were pretty full, we saw a dessert go by and land at another table that we felt we had to try - the chocolate bricks. The dessert is two bricks made of chocolate mousse with a chocolate wafer bottom. It was like an over sized, creamy Kit Kat! Yum!

George's is one of my all time favorite restaurants in any city. It reminds me of many of my favorite spots in New York City, but has the year-round, warm weather, the outdoor seating and a European cafe vibe. If you travel to Miami, George's is a must!
