Sugar Fix: Abbott's Frozen Custard

This seems to be the summer of frozen treat discoveries! Though it opened in Brighton Center about a year ago, tonight I went to Abbott's Frozen Custard for the first time.

Dining Out: Back Deck

For the last two weeks I've been walking by a new restaurant in Downtown Crossing called Back Deck. I noticed it immediately because all of its windows are open to the street. As my regular readers know, I am all about the prime people watching spots.

Last week I went with a friend to Back Deck after work. As you approach the restaurant you notice the giant grilling spatula above the windows.

Dining Out: ArtBar

Once a month I have dinner with a group of five girls. Given all of our schedules, finding a date that works for everyone is nothing short of a miracle.

For June we decided to have our monthly dinner at ArtBar in the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge. Not sure where that is? I wasn't either.

ArtBar (and the Royal Sonesta) is behind the Museum of Science and across the street from the Cambridgeside Galleria.

Fro Yo: Sweet Tart

You know what I love about summer? It's acceptable to eat ice cream or frozen yogurt at any hour of the day. Noon? Sure. 3pm? Have to. 6pm? Makes a great, post-beach dinner. 9pm? Best way to end the day.

So imagine my surprise and delight when I discovered that a new, swirl your own frozen yogurt place had opened in my hometown of Newton. There I was, driving to my usual dinner spot, when I noticed it - a hot pink and neon green utopia of frozen deliciousness.

Dining Out: Max & Dylan's

I first heard about Max & Dylan's when they were hosting a mac and cheese competition a few months ago. How could I resist a restaurant that encourages people to duke it out over the best version of the cheesey, delicious, American classic?

I finally made it to Max & Dylan's after work a few weeks ago. The restaurant is located on West Street in Downtown Crossing. You can spot it from the top of the street by its huge flag waving in the wind.

Dining Out: Otto Pizza

For over a year now I have been wanting to try Otto Pizza in Harvard Square. Every time I walk by it I am reminded that I need to set aside a time to plan to dine there. Then something magical happened, I read online that Otto was planning to open a location in Coolidge Corner in Brookline!

Just about two weeks after Otto opened its doors in the space formerly occupied by Friendly's on Harvard St, my cousins and I headed there for dinner.

Sugar Fix: Monumental Cupcakes

Today's post is brought to you by Twitter. Let me explain.

Last week one of the cupcake bakeries I follow on Twitter, Monumental Cupcakes in Jamaica Plain, tweeted asking their followers what kind of cupcakes they should make for Father's Day. Since I was planning to be in JP on Father's Day with my dad, I thought I'd reply and see if they'd make a flavor he would love. Then this happened:

Fro Yo: 16 Handles

For at least two years now I've been hearing about 16 Handles in New York City. To me, frozen yogurt is frozen yogurt. I have to admit, I had no idea what all the hype was about.

Last week, while I was in the city, I finally made my first trip to 16 Handles on the Upper West Side.

Dining Out: Community Food & Juice

I spent all of last week in New York City for work. After working a full day at the trade show each day, I was free to do whatever I pleased at night. On my second day in the city, I met two of my friends for dinner at a place they recommended called Community Food & Juice. They had been the week before to celebrate a college graduation and were already craving a return.

Dining Out: Jack's Wife Freda

When I was in New York City back in April, my coworkers and I spent an afternoon bopping around Soho. In between lusting after jackets at H&M and trying on more shoes than I can count, I managed to spot an adorable restaurant! This particular day in April was one of those rare, sunny, 90 degree days and all of the Soho restaurants and bars had their windows open. We were walking on Lafayette Street when I spotted a place called Jack's Wife Freda.

Dining Out: Cedar Street Grille

A few months ago I began researching restaurants near Tolland, CT to celebrate my best friend's last night as a single lady. Well, second to last night. I was organizing a girls only dinner for the night before her rehearsal dinner. What I discovered was, there are no nice restaurants in Tolland or anywhere within a 10 mile radius of Tolland. I had to cast a wider net.

Dining Out: Aquitaine

Last week I met my childhood nanny for dinner at Aquitaine at Legacy Place in Dedham. Though I've been to the Aquitaine locations in Chestnut Hill and the South End, that was before this blog existed. Gasp!

We met on Wednesday night and the weather was perfect. My dinner date secured us a prime spot on the outdoor patio.
