Holiday Gift Guide 2021: For The Dog Lover

Friends, we're reached the end. Today is the fifth and final guide in this year's Holiday Gift Guide series. I hope you've enjoyed this as much as I have!

Of course I have saved the best for last, gifts for your dog.

I adopted Scout in June 2015 and my life is immeasurably better with him in it. I buy him stuff all year, but I really love hand picking items for the holidays. Why should I be the only one in our house who gets to unwrap stuff?

Before we start freaking out over the cuteness, one note: all of the items highlighted in this list today are sold by small or independent businesses. These companies have been hit so hard during the pandemic and could really use your support. Please consider buying from them instead of Amazon, Walmart, Target or Macy's.

Ok, let's get to it!

Scout is very food motivated, so I'm always looking for new treats that will excite him, but are also good for him. A friend of mine co-founded a pet food company called Shameless Pets and their stuff is amazing! All of the ingredients are upcycled. Bananas for bacon is a Scout favorite.

He also loves the Wonder Nuggets from Polkadog Bakery, based right here in Boston. We go into the Pokadog shops often. Currently we're working our way through a bag of the pork and apple flavor

When it comes to toys, Scout always goes for stuff he can put in his mouth and then carry around. This stargazer bone from Harry Barker is so pretty! I think it would look gorgeous next to a menorah or under a Christmas tree.

Speaking of Christmas, my favorite holiday movie of all time is Home Alone and this year BarkBox has a Home Alone themed box! I shrieked when I saw this on Instagram. They made an Oh-Kay van toy, Marv and Harry dolls, Kevin's paint bucket and even Buzz's tarantula. I need it all.

Naturally your pup will need a place to put all these new toys. This toy bin is a nice size, without clashing with any of your home decor.

If you like to dress your dog up for the holidays or maybe even for a family photo shoot, this bow tie from The Foggy Dog is just delightful. I recently learned about this brand when its founder was interviewed on The Dogist podcast. You can listen to that episode here

Last but not least, the holidays can be a stressful time for dogs. New people in the house, new food smells, people sleeping over, so gift them something to really help them relax and unwind. Perhaps a terry cloth robe

I know, I can hardly believe it myself. Robes for dogs exist!

If you're looking for even more pet gift ideas, revisit the guides from years past. There's lots of fun stuff in there.

Thank you for coming on this holiday shopping journey with me. I hope you found these guides helpful.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I am wishing everyone a wonderful and delicious day!
