Dining Out: The Toast Office

Brunch is my undisputed favorite meal of the week. Last weekend, two of my dearest friends came to Massachusetts for 24 hours and they were staying in a hotel in Westwood. They asked if I could recommend a brunch place for us on Sunday morning and knew right away what to suggest - The Toast Office

The restaurant is located on Route 109 in a strip mall with ample parking. They've set up an outdoor patio right out front and the day we were going it was 75 degrees and full sun.

When you arrive, you add your name to the waiting list via a tablet at the restaurant's entrance. You receive a text message when your table is ready. The app quoted me a 30-minute wait, but we actually only wound up waiting 10 minutes.

This was my first time at The Toast Office (after driving by it for years) and right away the menu felt familiar to me. I asked the manager if they had any relation to Rox Diner and he said, "Yes! Same owners."

While sipping on coffee (them) and cranberry juice (me) we mulled over what to select.

My bestie's husband went with the steak tip eggs benefict. He's gluten-free and thankfully The Toast Office has gluten-free toast available to substitute in to any breakfast dish.

After one bite, he commented, "This is the real deal. These steak tips are definitely marinated and they taste delicious."

Both of us ladies decided on the avocado eggs benedict. The English muffin came topped with spinach, tomato, avocado, the poached eggs and a generous pour of hollandaise sauce over the top.

The dish was excellent. The eggs were cooked perfectly, all of the veggies were fresh and the English muffin was toasted to just the right level of crunch.

While we all loved our eggs, we agreed that the portion size for the home fries was pretty lame. Not only were there just a few potatoes for each of us, but the meals are served on such long plates that is really highlights the tiny amount.

That said, the service at The Toast Office was stellar. Our server was kind, friendly and checked in often. She never rushed us, even when we were gossiping so much that we hadn't even looked at our menus yet.

If you're looking for a delicious spot in the Needham / Westwood / Medfield area, this is it. In addition to brunch, they also serve dinner and post their weekly specials on Facebook
