Read: The Heir Affair

I love the Royals and while The Crown is on hiatus, I've been getting my fill with books. Earlier this year, I read Casey McQuiston's Red, White & Royal Blue, which was fabulous. I couldn't put it down. Last week, I devoured The Heir Affair by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan, also known as The Fug Girls

The Heir Affair

The Heir Affair is a continuation of their first book, The Royal We. On page one, we're reunited with Bex and Prince Nicholas (Nick), after they've fled England. Their wedding was ruined by the British tabloids and they're hiding out in Scotland.

Eventually they have to return, where the family drama awaits them. They're estranged from Nick's brother Freddie, irritated with his father Richard, and under the watchful eye of Queen Eleanor.

For me, the best part of the book was witnessing Bex try to forge a genuine relationship with the notoriously tough-to-please Eleanor. If this were ever to become a movie, I am positive those scenes would be my favorite (and make me laugh the hardest).

I was surprised by how much of the book was devoted to Bex's pregnancy journey. If you are currently struggling with infertility, I do think this will be triggering.

The book is 463 pages, so it is definitely a commitment. I read about 90% of it over three beach days. If you need a Royal fix, this will do the trick!
