Shop: A Ruby at Copley Place

It's hard to believe, but it's officially November! This month is best known for America's favorite gluttony day, Thanksgiving, but for me, it's the month I kick my holiday shopping into high gear.

Each year I look for gifts that are extra special, beautiful and unique, which is why I am so excited to share with you that A Ruby, a line of French-inspired women's basics, opens their holiday pop-up shop today at Copley Place. 

You may have seen A Ruby earlier this year at their pop-up locations at Legacy Place in Dedham, MA or the Derby Street Shoppes in Hingham, MA. If you aren't familiar, let me help you get acquainted. A Ruby was founded by Avra Myers, one of the co-founders of Club Monaco.

When she started A Ruby, her goal was to give women high quality pieces that could be worn every day, but still have that wow factor. She says, "At A Ruby we think that the right clothes can make you just a little happier, a little more confident and give every woman a bit of je ne sais quoi."

The French influence is a big part of A Ruby's identity. Avra explains, "I am inspired by the effortless elegance of French women and their style. They have a reputation for always looking fabulous without trying too hard. It’s about being timeless, not chasing trends."

You can really see that timeless approach in each and every piece. Let me introduce you to some of my favorites, starting with the polar fleece wrap coat. I love me some winter white! The oversized collar on this coat creates a feminine ruffle effect. You can wear this as is, or belt it. 

If you want that same winter white look, but something a little edgier, check out the cotton fleece moto jacket. Motorcycle jackets are almost always black or dark gray. I love the idea of this shape in such an unexpected, light color. 

As someone with a very hour glass shape, I love anything that can be cinched at the waist, which is why I flipped over this kimono polar fleece coat. The neutral color goes with everything. Since my fall wardrobe includes both black and brown boots, I like having gray pieces that match either.

Another gray staple is this pullover tunic, a collaboration between A Ruby and Los Angeles-based brand Bella Dahl. Bella Dahl is known for creating ultra-soft women's essentials that reflect the laid-back Southern California style. Since we don't have that California sun here in Boston, it's best to layer this one with a tee underneath and a scarf on top. 

For extra coziness, pick up the reverse stitch turtle, made from a merino / cashmere blend. This sweater would make a great holiday gift. It's so luxurious! 

One of my favorites in the A Ruby line is the color block sweater. It's dark gray in the front, black on the sleeves and white on the sides. It creates a very flattering silhouette. It's intentionally extra long (so it covers your butt!). 

In addition to the basic pieces, A Ruby also has an athleisure line called AV-RA Performance. If you are looking for gifts for a friend who loves to work out, A Ruby has several options for clothes that go seamlessly from the gym to work or from the gym to brunch (let's be real). One of those must-have transition pieces is the cozy tee. 

Though I don't work out, I have my eye on the AV-RA Performance quilted jersey hoodie. It's basically a chic twist on an amazingly comfortable sweatshirt.

In addition to what I mentioned here, the holiday store will also carry a new line of sweaters called Trois Bateaux, a collaboration between A Ruby and Boston knitwear designer Dylan Uscher. The pop-up will also offer a line of Parisian-inspired charm jewelry (think Eiffel Tower and poodles) made with Rhode Island brand LDC.
