Dining Out: Stars On Hingham Harbor

This past weekend I woke up on Saturday morning and drove to the South Shore to Hingham, MA. My friend was celebrating her 28th birthday and signed up for a 5K in Hingham to kick off her special day. Post-race we dined at Stars on Hingham Harbor.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day, the first nice day in Massachusetts in 2013. When we pulled up to Stars it felt like summer.

The first thing I want to say about this restaurant is they have a free parking lot. Bonus!

Inside, the star theme continues as you can see here behind the hostess stand:

Stars has two dining room sections, both which were drenched in sunlight that morning.

From the windows you look out onto their parking lot, but beyond the parking lot and across the street is the harbor.

We sat in the dining room on the right side of the space at a big group table. We were seated right under the giant chalkboard.

Our section of the dining room was also home to the bar, which had diner style chairs in a lemonade color. I loved that the beer specials were written on a mirror above the bar.

Stars stayed true to its name in another way, with a starry night mural on the ceiling!

At the back of the dining room is the waiting area which has two old school video games.

Once we settled into our table we got right down to business. I couldn't help but laugh at the bacon cartoon on the menu. There was also a specials menu with quite a few offerings for Easter weekend.

Since we were celebrating, many of us ordered cocktails. Stars offers an special bloody Mary that is garnished with shrimp and bacon!

I ordered the classic bloody Mary, which was a delicious rendition. It had just enough kick.

The birthday girl ordered an egg white omelette with sides of turkey bacon and sweet potato home fries. She raved about her choices and cleaned her entire plate.

Across the table from me a friend's husband ordered the Mexican chicken omelette which came with plenty of cheese, salsa and sour cream.

I think the best looking plate on the table was the BLT eggs benedict with a side of house made bacon and cheddar tater tots. Look at those perfectly crisped tots!

I ordered the Caprese omelette (mozzarella cheese, tomatoes and basil) and home fries. The home fries were awesome - crispy, well seasoned and cooked with onions.

Overall, our brunch at Stars was a fun one. We had a great table, our waitress was very attentive and handled the big group well and we all loved our meals. It was a wonderful start to the first sunny spring day of the year.

If you feel up to a day trip, head the 40 minutes south to Hingham to dine at Stars and enjoy this charming water front town.
