Dining Out: The Beehive (Part II)

Saturday afternoon, after two hours of walking during the South End Garden Tour, my tour companion and I were ready to re-fuel! Since we were already in the South End (land of amazing restaurants) we decided to see if we could get a table at the Beehive for lunch.

To our shock and pleasant surprise not only were we seated right away, but their jazz brunch was still going on and we were led to a table right next to the musicians. Jackpot!

We also had a great view of this marvelous chandelier and a beautiful painting on the wall:

We were in desperate need of refreshments, so I didn't waste any time ordering a drink. I decided to go for the strawberry caipirinha. It was cool, had great berry flavor and packed a strong punch.

We were quite hungry and decided to order an appetizer. There were about six things we wanted, but we settled on the truffled potato and cheese pierogies. The plate arrived with four pierogies, topped with caramelized onions and scallions. They came with sour cream for dipping and a side salad. I am telling you, this pierogi was one of the greatest things I have ever tasted. I was already thinking, "I could eat ten more of these," when my friend said the exact same thing out loud!

For brunch we both ordered the mushroom, parsley and Swiss omlette, which came with a side salad, wheat toast and the most delicious french fries that were cut almost like potato chips. We both licked our plate completely clean.

This brunch reminded me why the Beehive continues to be one of my absolute favorite places in Boston. You can read about my first meal there here.
