Meet Me at the Melting Pot

Back in April I went with two girlfriends to Melting Pot in downtown Boston for a birthday celebration dinner. I blogged about the fantastic meal and soon found myself chatting on Twitter with the Melting Pot's Director of Marketing as a result. When she decided to host a foodie "tweet up" this month she was kind enough to invite me!

For those who are not familiar, a tweet up is a meet up (get it, tweet up, meet up) for people who share a common interest on the micro-blogging site Twitter. This commonality can range from Brighton residents, to Whole Foods addicts, to beer connoisseurs, or in this case, foodies!

We were invited to the Melting Pot's location in Boston's Park Plaza to meet the Director of Marketing in person and enjoy some fondue. I arrived at 6:00 pm on the dot and met several Twitter friends I'd be following for months and many of whom write blogs I read daily. It was so fantastic to meet all these inspiring people in person and share our love of food!

The spread for the evening included cheese and chocolate fondues of every iteration. The cheese offerings included: Swiss, Fiesta Cheese, Spinach and Artichoke, and my favorite, the Wisconsin Trio, which has blue cheese. Is there such a thing as too much blue cheese? I think not. Each cheese fondue was served with carrots, celery, cauliflower, green apples, bread cubes and corn chips for dipping.

Catering to my veracious sweet tooth were dessert fondues including Cookies n Cream, Pecan Turtle, Pure Dark Chocolate and Bananas Foster (which I did not taste, as you all know I don't feel fruit is dessert. That's breakfast. Come on now). The chocolate fondues were complimented by pieces of brownie, rice krispie treats, strawberries and marshmallows for dipping. In a word: heaven.

In addition to the fondue there were also representatives from the Still River Winery providing samples of Apfel Eis, their apple ice wine. I had never had any flavor of ice wine and I have to say, it was quite delightful! It tastes like a deliciously sugary, cold, apple juice. Perfect for sipping with dessert. The best part? The winery is local! You can visit Still River Winery in Harvard, MA.

One of the most fun benefits of attending an event with a group of bloggers is reading all of their posts about the event afterward! Check out the reviews below:
