The Grand Gesture

This week on MTV's Taking the Stage the drama with the world's most talented love triangle continued.

After Mia and Tyler's hook up, Tyler's girlfriend Jasmine is still pissed and not letting him off the hook. He attempts to mend their relationship by having his little brother deliver roses to her dance class. When he asked how she liked her flowers, she said "they're nice, but its not enough." Sorry, Tyler. As my friend Aaliyah sings "dust yourself off and try again".

Tyler decides to go big (with a little gentle suggesting from Jasmine's best friend Shaakira) and surprises Jasmine with a dance at her 18th birthday party. He comes out to Chris Brown's "With You" and dances the entire song, in front of everyone, just for her.

Jasmine cannot contain her excitement, is grinning ear to ear and winds up in the center of the floor with him by the end. In the final scene of the episode, its clear she has forgiven Tyler as she is still smiling wide as can be, and let's him crack a few jokes. According to next week's previews, we haven't seen the end of the Tyler-Jasmine-Mia drama, so enjoy the calm before the storm.

This episode also featured the senior songwriting showcase (it is just me, or does this school have a contest every week?) which was hosted by SCPA and the local KISS FM radio affiliate. The judges picked three finalists and the winner's song got played on the radio. Drumroll, please . . . . MIA WINS! Again! If I went to SCPA I think I'd be pretty annoyed by now, watching Mia win competition after competition. Something tells me she'll eventually get de-throned.

There were also two hilarious clumsy, teenage moments. First Mia walking into a trash can after chatting with Tyler, then Aaron tripping up the steps trying to say hi to Mia. Oh, young love.
May I say again, if you are not watching this show, you NEED to get with the program. Thursday night, 10:00pm, MTV. Set the DVR. In the words of Jasmine, "I don't want to talk about it, I just want to dance."
