Three's Company

This week on The City, three is a crowd - with a love triangle and a third wheel at the center of the drama.

Its the last week of December and Erin's boyfriend Duncan is coming to town to visit. In the opening scene Whitney and Erin are in the kitchen discussing an upcoming holiday party. I was distracted by an ugly red hat Whitney was wearing, but I did hear Erin say "I wish I could have my cake and eat it too" in reference to wanting to be able to date Duncan AND JR. Listen greedy, you only get one! Stop breaking hearts, and pick one!

The holiday party is being held at the loft of a friend named Smooth. Only in NYC, folks. Apparently Smooth has a stripper pole in his loft, and has hired ladies to "entertain" his holiday party guests. That is a whole 'nother take on deck the halls.

Before going to Smooth's party, Whitney attends the company holiday party at DVF, where the legend herself gives a holiday toast. My love for DVF only continues. Two of her dresses were featured in this month's SELF magazine. I lust.

At the DVF holiday party the awkwardness between Whitney and Olivia is at an all time high. Something tells me the cat fights are only going to intensify. I look forward to the claws coming out.

Its finally the night of Smooth's holiday party (Which has a red velvet rope out front. Again, only in NYC), and Erin comes to the party with Duncan, fresh off the plane. She is sporting a hippie/nymph headdress - a wreath made of holly. Not sure which I hated more - this holly, wreath headband, or the feather and bead earrings she wore on her first day of work. Toss up.

Erin and Duncan are enjoying themselves at the party when - GASP! - JR walks in. Both Whitney and Erin are stunned, and Duncan is visibly enraged. JR bravely approaches Erin to say hello, when Duncan grabs her by the wrist and pulls her away. He says he doesn't want them hanging out when he's not around. Erin uses the same band aid Adam (Jay's roommate) does and just says "I love you".

The next day when Duncan gets ready to leave town, he tells Erin he doesn't want to be part of some twisted love triangle. He says she needs to figure her s**t out, and decide what she wants. Rather than fight for him, she responds with a pathetic "I just don't know what I want". Erin, you are offensive to all women. You have two men that adore you, stop playing around and PICK ONE. Can you hear me? ONE.

Over in SoHo Adam and Ally are having a coffee break at Once Upon A Tart. This summer my cousin gave me their cookbook as a thank you for hosting her for July 4th week. Let me tell you, those goodies are scrumptious! Over coffee they are discussing their current living situation. Ally has crashed what was supposed to be Adam and Jay's apartment, and she thinks its time for her to get some space and finally move out. Adam is on the other end of the spectrum, and wants her to stay and Jay to go.

Later that night, Adam tells Jay he wants him to move. He says Jay has become a third wheel. Jay is furious and storms out. That night both roommates and their ladies (plus Erin) are in Midtown, at an apartment for New Years Eve. Erin, who interpreted her conversation with Duncan as being broken up with, says to Whitney "the best way to get over a guy, is to get under another one". Nice, Erin. Real classy.

At the party Adam and Jay avoid each other, and Jay fills Whitney in on their conversation. Whitney is stunned, and when Jay says "Obviously I'd feel most comfortable staying with you", Whit reluctantly responds "Of course, you have been there for me, and I'll be there for you". Translation - there is no polite way to say "Oh hell no!" so I'll just say "ok".

At the stroke of midnight Erin incessantly checks her phone for a call from Duncan and cries when she discovers he didn't care enough to call. Perhaps had you not messed around him, and tried harder to save your relationship, he might have picked up the phone!

In the final scene of the episode Jay wakes up the morning after New Years and tries to joke with Whitney about crashing at her place asking if she is going to make her dinner every night. Her response - silence. Ouch. I foresee some choppy waters ahead for these two.

Next week the gang heads to Miami for what looks like a drama filled episode involving one of Jay's ex lovers. Be sure to pack your sunscreen, Whit, it looks like you're about to get burned.
