My aunt is in town from Jerusalem and each time she visits Boston I try to take her somewhere new or to a place we've never been to before together. One of the places we love to explore together is the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA). The exhibits are always changing and seem to get more and more impressive every year.
I am overjoyed to share with you my television debut!
You may remember that back in April 2015 I filmed an episode of the "The Foodie List" here in Boston. "The Foodie List" travels around the world showcasing the best dishes at local restaurants. The show is hosted by four food bloggers in each city. In its first season the show stopped in 13 hot spots around the globe including Helsinki, Vienna, Tel Aviv, Austin, TX and of course, Beantown.
We took a quick break from the Miami recaps for the Oscars (hugely important) but today I wanted to share one final Florida adventure with you.
My parents moved to Miami in the summer between my junior and senior year of college. They left behind my childhood home (I had lived there since I was 4 years old) and were putting a three hour plane ride between us. Did I mention that I'm not good with change? Needless to say, I wasn't thrilled about this new situation.
My birthday excluded, Oscar night is my favorite night of the year. I love the glitz, the glamour, the prestige, the tradition and the ability to mercilessly judge the fashion from the comfort of my couch.
This year the Oscars were all about Chris Rock's commentary, Mad Max's sweep and Leo's long overdue win. But before all that went down, the main event happened outside the theater. The real competition takes place on the red carpet.
Just after the new year one of my best friends from college texted me that she was reading Shonda Rhimes' book "Year of Yes" and she thought I would love it. I was embarrassed to admit to her that I didn't know Shonda had published a book (whoops), but if she recommended it, I would absolutely give it a try. That night I ordered the book on Amazon Prime and two days later it was on my doorstep.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day weekend. Wasn't it nice that the holiday fell on a long weekend (and school vacation week for some people)?
All week long I've been sharing with you the highlights of my road trip to Western Mass. with the Hampshire County Regional Tourism Council. After a day jam-packed with fantastic shopping and dining destinations, we made one final stop that wasn't on our itinerary.
After cider doughnuts at Atkins Farms Country Market and an epic brunch at Esselon Cafe, the next stop on our Western Mass. road trip was Ellie's Oils in Northampton, MA, an olive oil tasting room.
During the final weekend in January I spent the day on Saturday as a guest of the Hampshire County Regional Tourism Council. They planned the most spectacular day for me and a friend to explore "the other side of Massachusetts" (which is the council's tag line).
Today is February 1st which can only mean one thing . . . it's time to talk about Valentine's Day!
Though I have been single for many years, I still love Valentine's Day. I think there is something really sweet about taking time to celebrate the people you love most.
Last year I shared a Valentine's Day Gift Guide for All the Single Ladies. This year I wanted to offer you options for all the special people in your life.
Two Decembers ago my mom and I watched all of the first season of "Transparent" in two days (you can read my review here). We could have done it in one sitting, but we felt guilty holing ourselves up in the den while my dad was left alone in the other room.
While I was on vacation in the first week of January I read two books, Mindy Kaling's "Why Not Me?" (you can read that review here) and William Kent Krueger's "Ordinary Grace."
