Dining Out: Colibri

For our first dinner in San Francisco, we headed to a restaurant recommended by the sales manager at our hotel, Colibri.

Colibri is located on Geary Street and it would be easy to walk right by it if you didn't know it was there. Hidden beneath an unassuming, navy blue awning with yellow text, lies a fantastic Mexican restaurant.

Dining Out: Cafe Bastille

On my first day in San Francisco my coworker and I checked into our hotel and headed out into Union Square to find a place for lunch. We assumed since we were in a major, metropolitan area, it would be easy to find a cute lunch place. Not so.

After a solid thirty minutes of wandering with no luck, I popped into the closest hotel (Palace Hotel) and asked their concierge for a recommendation. He pulled out a map of Union Square and drew me the route to Belden Place, an alley with several restaurants with outdoor tables.

Dining Out: Tico

Back in February I read a review by one of my favorite, local food bloggers about her meal at Tico. I immediately decided I had to check it out.

Well, that "immediately" became nearly six months. Last week, when talking with my two friends about where we should meet up, Tico topped all of our lists.

Dining Out: Metropolis Cafe

Tonight my mother and I checked into the Inn @ St. Botolph in the South End. After unpacking we decided to head down to Tremont Street for dinner. Our original plan was to sit outside at the Beehive, but the whole restaurant, including the patio, was closed for a wedding. How could we be upset about that?

We walked up the street and decided to try Metropolis Cafe, a place neither of us had ever been. Metropolis Cafe is owned by the Aquitaine Group, which owns Aquitaine, Union Bar and Grille and Gaslight.

Dining Out: The Marliave

A few months ago I was walking through Downtown Crossing with a friend when we noticed a patio hidden between two high rise buildings. We walked a bit closer and learned it was a French restaurant called the Marliave. We made a mental note to add it to our list of places to try.

Today is the birthday of said friend and it was her wish to dine with all of her favorite ladies at the Marliave.

The Marliave's legal address is 10 Bosworth Street, but it's actually located at the corner of Bromfield Street and Province Street.

Dining Out: Upstairs On The Square

I've been to Upstairs on the Square countless times. I've gone for Restaurant Week, Mother's Day and for a bridal shower, yet somehow my visits never made it on to the blog!

When one of my favorite girls asked if I'd like to help her spend her $100 gift certificate at Upstairs on the Square, I jumped at the chance! We made a reservation for tonight at 6:45pm.

Dining Out: Eat at Adrian's

I am a long time fan of Boston chef, Will Gilson. His first restaurant, Garden at the Cellar, is one of my all time favorites (read the review from my first visit here). At the end of May I shared with you that Will and his business partner, Aaron Cohen, would be taking over dinner service at the Cape Cod restaurant Adrian's in Truro.

Dining Out: PJ's

The first night of our family vacation my mother asked each of us what our "must do" item was during our 10 day trip. Without hesitation, my little sister answered, "PJ's!" What is PJ's you ask? It is a fried food and ice cream mecca that is quintessential Cape Cod.

Dining Out: Ross' Grill

On July 4th, after watching a wonderful parade in Provincetown, my parents and I wandered down Commercial Street in search of lunch. Many of our favorite spots were quite crowded. As we walked my mother had a light bulb moment: Ross' Grill.

Ross' Grill is a bit of a hidden gem. Located at the back of the second floor of the Whaler's Wharf shopping arcade, only a true veteran would know where to find it.
