I've been hearing about the great food at Sweet Basil in Needham, MA for at least a year now. My cousin, who used to work nearby in Wellesley, raved about the place and kept encouraging me to make a trip.
A few weeks ago I finally got the chance to experience Sweet Basil for myself. It was a chilly night, but the restaurant was glowing.
On Sunday there is only one thing that matters - brunch.
For the past week or so I've been sharing with you some of the discoveries made during my reunion weekend with my college girls (Crompton Collective, Tavolino). Our final group outing was to a place in Worcester, MA called Armsby Abbey.
Last week I shared with you my first visit to the incredible artisan market Crompton Collective. That outing was part of a reunion weekend with my college girls, which also included some epic meals. The same day we went to Crompton, we also dined at a delicious Italian restaurant called Tavolino.
As I prepared to write this post, I searched the blog three different ways to ensure my eyes weren't deceiving me. Could it be possible that despite my love of Not Your Average Joe's, I'd never written about it here on the site?
Apparently, despite over 15 years of loyal patronage, I've never done a feature on one of my longtime favorites.
Happy Friday everyone!
Last Friday I piled into my car with a group of friends to head up to Gibbet Hill Grill in Groton, MA. This road trip was part of a monthly tradition we have called Foodie Friday. Once a month we pick a restaurant we've all been dying to try and dine there together.
This month, the pick was Gibbet Hill Grill. Ironically, I had been there six days before for a coworker's wedding.
When we pulled up at 7:30pm it was pitch black outside.
I'll admit it, I'm a bit of a hummus snob. After several trips to Israel over the past 20 years, I know what exceptional hummus is supposed to taste like (let me tell you, it's not Sabra). My expert status was confirmed when BuzzFeed used one of my photos for the #1 location on their list of the 10 best places hummus places in Israel. #JustSayin
I started working in Kendall Square in Cambridge back in January. In the 10 months I've been spending my weekdays in this neighborhood, I've hit up a ton of restaurants - Area Four, Clover, Commonwealth, Kika and more.
Thank you to everyone who entered yesterday's Anna's Taqueria 20th Anna-versary giveaway! It's very clear to me that the Pop.Bop.Shop. readers are Anna's super fans - burritos, quesadillas, tacos, nachos - you crave and love it all!
Anna's Taqueria burritos are like a form of currency here in Boston, especially amongst the ever-going student population. All Bostonians have a very particular way they order their Anna's burrito.
I have been a long time fan of Boston chocolate maker EHChocolatier. You may remember that back in the fall of 2012 I participated in their CSC (like a CSA, but for chocolate instead of produce).
This month EHChocolatier debuted a brand new sweet treat, the Boston Icon Box.
With only three months left in the year (eeek!) I have been pretty aggressively attacking my remaining new year's resolutions. Last week I crossed #14 off the list when I finally experienced the Bloody Mary bar at Barcelona Wine Bar.
If you've been living in the Boston area for a while, then you've certainly been experiencing the revitalization of East Somerville. It seems like every week a new restaurant, bar or shop is opening somewhere along Broadway, adding new energy to the neighborhood.
