Dining Out: Blue Spoon

This weekend my family spent four very blissful days in Maine. We left Boston on Friday morning and headed north to Portland. Our eventual destination was Camden, Maine, but we had peppered in a few stops along the way.

We had a 12:15pm lunch reservation at a restaurant called Blue Spoon, which is on Congress Street in the Munjoy Hill neighborhood. Since we had arrived about a half hour early, we decided to walk down the street to the Eastern Promenade (or the Eastern Prom, as the locals call it) to take in the view.

10 Ice Cream Places to Cool Off this Summer

It finally feels like summer has arrived in Boston. We've had consistently beautiful weather and wearing sun dresses and flip flops is at long last the norm. During beach season my daily intake of frozen treats always seems to double. Ice cream after lunch? Sure. Walk to get a cone after dinner? Absolutely. Frozen yogurt at 2pm because I feel parched? You know it.

If you're like me and you're in a total ice cream state of mind, satisfy those cravings at one of these ten dessert Meccas.

Dining Out: Brighton Bodega

Those who are long time readers of Pop.Bop.Shop. know that every Thursday night I have dinner with one of my best friends from college. We've been dining together on Thursdays for 11 years. She lives in Brighton and is always keeping an eye out for new places in the neighborhood. A few months ago she excitedly told me, "The restaurant group that owns Devlin's bought the space next door that used to be Mandy and Joe's!" For the last few weeks she's been watching like a hawk, waiting for it to open.

Dining Out: Whole Heart Provisions

One of my 2017 New Year's resolutions is to up my breakfast game. In fact, I set my sights on five places to try this year and I'm on a pretty good roll.

Dining Out: Belly Wine Bar (Part II)

Earlier this month the co-owners of Belly Wine Bar, The Blue Room and Central Bottle announced that they would be closing their two restaurants in Kendall Square in Cambridge (Central Bottle, the wine store, will live on). Belly Wine Bar would have turned five this September and The Blue Room has been open for 26 years (21 under this management team).

Dining Out: Wahlburgers Summer Menu

I am a huge Wahlburgers fan and I always associate going there with summertime. Their very first location is in Hingham, MA which is right next to Hull, MA, the town where my father grew up and our family still has a home. I love stopping at Wahlburgers as I'm coming or going from Nantasket Beach.

Dining Out: East One Coffee Roasters

On our final morning in Brooklyn, NY we woke up to the sound of rain tapping against our windows. It seemed only fair, since the forecast for the entire long weekend had been for rain and we had nothing but sun on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

We had made plans to spend our last meal in this beloved borough with a family friend, who happens to live two blocks from the Airbnb we rented. She suggested East One Coffee Roasters, which had just opened and she hadn't had a chance to check out yet.

Dining Out: Kitchen at Cobble Hill

On our third morning in Brooklyn we decided to get up, eat a quick breakfast (bagels, of course) and then head out to explore the neighborhood. We walked up Smith Street in Carroll Gardens, all the way into Cobble Hill and then back down on the parallel street, Court Street.

Dining Out: Gersi

I always have the best Italian food in New York City, and our dinner at Gersi in Carroll Gardens was no exception. The place was recommended to me by a friend who I used to share meals with at Supper in the East Village, so I knew her suggestion would be solid.

Dining Out: Atrium DUMBO

The Galler family headed to Brooklyn, NY this weekend to attend a wedding. My brother-in-law's older brother was getting hitched, and we were all invited to celebrate.

The wedding took place at the DUMBO Lofts, a space directly below the Manhattan Bridge. The location was outrageously cool and unique.

The next morning, my brother-in-law's parents hosted the most beautiful brunch at Atrium DUMBO, which is situated right in between the Manhattan Bridge and the Brooklyn Bridge.

Dining Out: Buttermilk Channel

I have a Pamela Barksy canvas bag inside my purse that reads, "I'm having an affair with New York." I have always loved the Big Apple. Despite countless trips to Manhattan (I think if I actually tried to count, it might be close to 100 visits), before this weekend I had never been to Brooklyn.

Sugar Fix: Honeycomb Creamery

It's no secret that I love ice cream. I believe it would be factually correct to state that it's my primary food group. As such, when a friend told me about Honeycomb Creamery on Mass. Ave in Cambridge, I knew I had to check it out.
