Passover is coming up quickly, with the first seder on the evening of Monday, April 10, 2017. I am particularly excited for the holiday this year because I will be flying to Miami, FL to sit around the dining room table with family (and slurp down bowls of my Dad's matzah ball soup!).
Last year, my favorite chocolate makers, Elaine Hsieh and Catharine Sweeney of EHChocolatier in Somerville, debuted their first-ever Passover collection. It included dark chocolate matzah bark, chocolate matzah almond toffee, coconut almond chocolate "macaroons" and dark chocolate hazelnut bark. Needless to say, I wanted all of it.
I am thrilled to report that they have just released the 2017 Passover collection! In a recent email to loyal customers, EHChocolatier shared, "As a family that celebrates Passover, Elaine has always enjoyed many of the rituals surrounding this Jewish holiday, especially preparing the meal, setting the table and sharing it with family and friends. Guests routinely contribute with delicious macaroons, flourless nut tortes, and the occasional homemade candy. It was the latter that got her thinking – why not create our own Passover Collection to share with our EHChocolatier family?" And we are so glad you did!
This year, the dark chocolate matzah bark is back, studded with roasted and salted pistachios, crystallized ginger and candied orange peel.
The chocolate matzah almond toffee also returns, which is a play on EHChocolatier's award-winning brown butter toffee. This Passover version is filled with matzah and sliced almonds, then dipped in dark chocolate and finished with toasted almonds and fleur de sel. Yup, drooling.
Personally, I am most excited to see the coconut almond chocolate "macaroons" in the mix again. This play on the traditional coconut macaroon cookie is an adaptation of EHChocolatier's coconutty bar. Elaine describes this one as "Almond Joy in the shape of a haystack."
This year, for the first time, you can order a Passover collection gift box. This is the perfect host or hostess gift. You can even ship it to friends or family if you won't be able to celebrate with them in person. The box is $49.95 and includes all three treats mentioned above.
Every item in the EHChocolatier Passover collection comes boxed or wrapped with the most beautiful spring labels. This packaging is sure to wow even the pickiest mother, aunt or grandmother (you know who you are).
