This Sunday our very own New England Patriots will face off against the Atlanta Falcons in the Super Bowl. The team at Wahlburgers knows that you are going to need plenty of fuel to cheer on Tommy and the boys, so they've added a couple of special things to their menu for game day. I headed to the Fenway location this week to get a sneak peek.
Though I have been to the Hingham location of Wahlburgers many times, this was my first trip to the restaurant on Brookline Ave.
They opened in October 2015 and just like the Hingham original, they have a take-out side, a sit down area and a big bar.
All the Wahlburgers locations have awesome decor, but I really loved these Red Sox lockers in the dining room.
There is no question that the Fenway location is a great place to watch a game. The bar has plenty of seats for a crowd and has huge TVs over the rows and rows of bottles and beers.
They even have Patriots balloons flying!
In honor of the Pats four Super Bowl wins, Wahlburgers is serving up an extra special burger called the Four Ring Burger. It's a 1/2 pound burger patty, turkey bacon, sriracha ketchup, white cheddar cheese and four thick sliced, tempura-battered onion rings, all on a potato bun.
Though I don't eat meat, I can appreciate the smell of it and let me tell you, when that burger landed on the table, the scent of the burger patty, the turkey bacon and the freshly fried onion rings was intoxicating.
I lifted the top bun off to get a closer look.
Under that pile of crispy onion rings is a juicy burger, topped with perfectly melted cheese and sizzling turkey bacon.
Scarfing down the Four Ring Burger will definitely keep you energized for all the clapping and screaming at the TV you're going to be doing.
On Super Bowl Sunday, Wahlburgers will be making two special additions to their menu - wings and fried pickles. These are available on game day only.
Now, if you're a vegetarian like me, don't you worry, there are plenty of delicious options for you too. The Wahlburgers veggie burger is actually not a veggie patty, but built on top of a portobello mushroom. The 'shroom is topped with white cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms, lettuce, tomato and chef Paul's signature Wahl sauce.
Look at that beauty! Piled high with veggie goodness and stuffed into a warm potato bun.
I polished this puppy off in about three minutes.
No trip to Wahlburgers is complete without a boozy frappe. After my first trip to the Hingham location I became obsessed with their s'mores frappe. I even recreated it and served it at my Oscar party in 2014.
Wahlburgers has just added a brand new spiked frappe called the Nor'eastah. The vanilla ice cream gives the frappe a color as white as snow, like the storms it's named after.
The booze in this particular frappe is Four Roses bourbon. They also add a few swirls of maple syrup for a touch of sweetness. As I sipped this new frozen confection I was super impressed by how thick it was. This is a classic frappe. No runny milkshakes here!
If you are planning to watch the Super Bowl at a bar (not on a friend's couch) park yourself on a stool at Wahlburgers. They are serving the Four Ring Burger at the Boston, Hingham and Lynnfield locations.
Don't forget to ask about the wings and the fried pickles too!
GO PATS!
